Hi All,

As some of you might of noticed, I was a bit of a whiner after my run yesterday. Actually, I was having a bit of fun with the nasty weather.

Unfortunately, things were to get worse and I'm going to not be able to train for a while. My doc has still not told me how long, but I'll be inactive for at least a few days. It's too bad because I was feeling good and very much looking forward to my first 15 miler of the year. I'm fortunate to have a very beautiful 15 mile course and the weather is just wonderful after yesterday's snow. But it isn't to be. Only other endurance athletes can understand what a bummer it is to not be able to go out for a planned run.

What happened was that I had a lawn mower battery explode in my face. I work for Country Home Products; we make and sell Neuton battery powered lawn mowers. We were looking at a competitors product and I was lifting the removable battery out of the mower when it exploded. I have a broken nose, cuts, burns, and bruises on my face, and a corneal ulcer on one eye.

The ER doc says I'll be fine, but I can't say I'm comfortable, sleeping is difficult, and I'm out of action for a while. We went out and ran some chores, but I'm mostly resting today.

Bummer!
Ok, I'm convinced. We must all quit our jobs. It's getting in the way of our workouts!

Damn, sorry to hear... hope you heal quickly and completely.

Don't sweat the training. You have a serious base that will not go away over night. Eyes, as you know, are much more important.

Healing vibes coming your way.

what a story, my goodness, 'I picked up the battery and it broke my nose"

I have never seen that one on the warning. Glad it wasn't more serious, but you poor thing, all the same.

Keep looking forward to that 15 miles. You'll be back at it in no time.

Wow...
that truly sucks!
Sorry your job "blew up in your face..." but glad that you're relatively unscathed, save some forced rest for a few days (hopefully only a few days).

Stay away from exploding batteries!
