Hmm. Food for thought. I need to see how a sprint fits into my training around that time. I think it may be in one of my build cycles so a lot of quality workouts. If it is, then I'll have to pass in favor of some quality long work but I'll keep you posted.

Hey Econo - I looked at my training plan and am 90% sure I'm in for this race though I plan to train straight through it.

OK, now I have a dilemma.
I'd like to do one tune up sprint tri prior to Alcatraz.

I can do Beaver Freezer in early April and meet Econo. It's in the middle of a build cycle so I'll be doing bike cruise intervals the day before, skipping a 7 mile Z2 run and ~3000 m Z2 swim to do the race and then biking 40-50 miles the day after. April is also a challenging month since we're traveling 2/4 weekends and I'm already shifting quality workouts around to compensate.

Or I can hold off the tune up race to May (Hawthorne Farms Sprint in Hillsboro) and do one that takes place at the end of a rest week and will only be skipping a TT on the bike which I can replace with the race.

I'm thinking that holding off the race until May is the smart thing to do (sorry Econo ). Any other thoughts?

Well, hobey. I'm a competitive meet-up-er, and have met some 57 CR folks. I will do the same with KR...I will dominate the meet-ups! So your training (and mbannon's stupid JOB) is messing up my tally, GRRRR!

Seriously, if you make a last minute decision to just hop into the sprint, say hi.

Nope. Moses Lake. It's in Bum-Fuc$-Eastern Washington, but it's also the USAT Regional championship race. I figure that should be a good indicator of how I stack up against the fast-holes this year.

So.....come on up to Hillsboro on May 3rd. We'll race then have brunch back at the house afterwards.

http://www.hfac.com/HFACTri/Index.htm

Heart of the Valley is too close to Alcatraz. I'm sure we'll meet up sometime this summer anyway. We're likely in for Pacific Crest weekend.
