lambs ear

whatever viney crap the neighbor has on his privacy fence. God only knows why he planted it on our side of the fence, but this crap grows 1-2ft/week. I keep cutting it back and throwing the clippings in his yard. I'm about ready to round-up it.

As far as crab grass, I happen to like it! Hey--if it's green and covers the dirt, it's more than welcome in my yard. Love it in August when neighbors with prissy grass are watering like crazy, trying to keep everything from drying out. Not here! Crab grass and low growing minty stuff never die.

Roses.

We have rented/purchased homes where inevitably someone has planted a crapload of these. As a dutiful tenant, I am the one that has to prune the m-f'ers. I.can't.stand.roses.

They are mean little turds that always seem to require more nurturing than a petulant three year old.

I have always been of the opinion that if roses don't like where I live, they can f-off and die. There are much prettier, more gentle, easier to manage flowers that I actually enjoy being around.

Ok. that was some pent-up hostility. wow. Sorry.

Not too fond of ivy.

Oh, and also, brussels srpouts and egg plant. But I suspect that's not what you meant.

That's really funny, made me laugh. I have three floribunda rose bushes under my care. I love the smell, but they ARE mean bastards. What cruel beauty!
Oh yes, thistles. We have those lining many of the walking trails in my town. You need to be careful during your walks or they'll hurt you. Morning Glory is a relative to the hateful field bindweed. Therefore, I shall hate morning glory, in solidarity with you.

Speaking of Round Up...what a godsend.

I used to be anti-herbicide.

Until I met field bindweed. Pulling and digging is no match for bindweed. Only sweet, sweet glyphosate (Round Up) has controlled it in my vegetable patch.

A joke I heard:

A new homeowner asked a master gardener how to deal with the field bindweed in his yard.

The master gardener said "sell your house and move."

Kudzu....you folks in the south must be going insane with that stuff.

Up here, we hate crabgrass/quack grass, honeysuckle, purple loosestrife, garlic mustard, some ridiculous vine which chokes out our beautiful pines, and anything growing amongst our veggies which was not planted by us.
...and, of course, poison ivy is at the top of any list....

Scotch Broom? We actually PAY to buy that down here and plant it. I kind of like it. It hides the outdoor unit of my A/C rather well. And what's wrong with honeysuckle? (I know you didn't post that one Mr T)

Scotch Broom has become an invasive species here - it has replaced a lot of native ecosystems. Many are allergic to it also. It was brought here years ago by a homesick immigrant. Now its everywhere. As a parks employee its a bit of a pain in the rear for us.

Don't get me wrong, I love blackberries. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) someone brought the Himmalayan blackberry to my region many years ago. While the berries are yummy, it is incredibly invasive and establishes inpenetrable thickets wherever its allowed to get a toe hold. We're just approaching the end of black berry season as I type.

My damn ex-neighbor planted IVY and it came over to my yard. And my other neighbor's yard (the one I shared the generator with). Where the ex-neihbor is, he managed to clean it out. But my other neighbor doesn't care/bother. So, it keeps on coming back over to me. I have a 30 x 10 foot patch of it. I can't stand it.

Damn jerk plants the stuff, and then moves. Grrrrr.

Scotch Broom invasive. Really? That's wild.

Mine always end up dying for one reason or another. When they get big (maybe 3 or 4 feet across) it takes several years, and they don't put down much in the way of roots, and sometimes even fall over if the ground is really saturated, and then we get a big wind. Like, um, last Saturday! The one we have now is still alive and doing well.

So none of you are plagued with Kudzu?
Jee bus, that stuff grows six inches a day, grows everywhere, and chokes the life out of host plants.

Makes the scenery look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

Doesn't grow around here thankfully. Maybe it would, but it hasn't made it here, not sure.

Tech,
It hasn't morphed enough to grow up here either.
Something to do with the deep freeze.

The Carolinas are being taken over by the stuff.
So far, the only way to control it is to own a herd of goats.
