It looks like the Pittsfield Peaks Death Division is attracting a bit of attention this year with 19 or so registered thus far. Does anyone know what kind of fun is in the mix this year with a 3a.m. start?

Sherpa John: You gonna spill the beans about any of the details for us?!?! I'm planning on registering but haven't pulled the trigger yet...

Dude.. if you want a FUN challenge in a race that is surely out of the ordinary.. just pull the damn trigger. Even when you don't finish, it'll be a day you'll never forget and really wish to come back to in the future.

Unfortunately, what you are required to do over the course of 10 miles remains a secret until race day. HOWEVER.. once you sign up for the race, you will begin to receive hints from the race directors designed to get you to think about what you could possibly be doing out there.

Start training now! Matt Quinlin, the Brewmaster from Long Trail brewery has posted pictures of his recent training regimen on the peak.com website. On his profile (retroman), you see him out in this front yard in a t-shirt, boxers, no socks, no shoes and a shovel with a dumbbell firmly attached on one end, digging a hole through 5 feet of snow. And to think.. this was just his first training session, other competitors are talking of creating youtube videos of what they are doing for training.. should be great fun!

Ok ok... seriously... barbed wire, mud, water, snorkeling, pole climbing, wood chopping, hauling, bleeding, crying, swearing, crawling, squeezing and all the instruction manuals you can think of. See you there.. I'm SO in this year!
