Registration for Pineland Farms is open. I am thinking about running the 50 mile. Does anyone have any opinions on the race?

I did the 50k at Pineland last year. About 1/2 hour after finishing I announced in front of friends & family "maybe I'll do the 50-miler next year!" ... for which I received a bunch of good-natured ribbing from my husband for months following, reminding me that I once questioned the sanity of running a marathon . I'll be returning this year for the 50 miler (my first).

In my race report from the 50k, I posted the elevation profile for the 25k loop. There's not anything ridiculously steep, but there aren't very many flat sections. The course isn't really technical though, making for easy footing. The aid stations were awesome. I didn't actually eat too much of their offerings as I'd trained mostly with just Gu and mostly stuck to that, but volunteers were super helpful and offered a lot of moral support too. It's a great race, well-organized, and .... COWBELL! Who doesn't need more cowbell?

But the course... Zzzzzz

I didn't think so. But then I do loops of a 1.5 mile section of trail all the time (it's the closest patch of trails to my house, so it's just convenient to run there). What it lacks in technicality it makes up for with the constant up & down, IMO.

I am, instead, probably doing the Bethel Midnight Boogie!

That's so funny because I thought it was lovely! I liked the changes from farmland, to woods, back to farmland again. I find farms to be pretty scenic though, while others may not. And cows, they're some of the best spectators! I suppose though, for runners who have done the Barkleys, or those who are doing Badwater(!!!), it could be kind of boring.
