Hey John, we met at Escarpment last year, I was hanging around with Jim Dunn (after beating him of course). Are you going to do the 50 at Pineland? Good timing as prep for VT.

TM--nice to see a fellow ME-er here!--I would so LOVE to do this race! But I dont think I am going to be ready for it this year--but still tossing it around--sounds like a lot of fun! (I would not be doing the 50miler though....)....

Dang! Did you really have to go and do that?

Here I was, all content in my plan to be responsible and train more, race less. I was going to run Wapack and then Pittsfield and that's it on my way to Vermont. Now this plops right down neatly in between... too tempting.

Yeah, I had to. My wife needed a 50 miler that time of year close to home so we decided to add it to the 50k and 25k we've been doing for the past two years. I just wish I could run it too!

Last year I ran the 50k but I need to give one of the other RD's a chance to race this year. Plus, now that I'm working on 3 races in one day I have lots of extra work to do.

It's going to be fun.

Hey, yeah, I remember you! I'll either do the 50 or the 50k. Either one will be great VT training. I'm not ballsy enough to run Pittsfield that close to VT (3 weeks out, right?) You guys who are doing that are braver than I!

I'm planning on doing the 50 miler. I did the 50k last year and was super impressed with how well it was orgainized. I completely underestimated the course as well. There are no major climbs, but the terrain never gives you a break. It is always uphill or downhill with hardly any rest. I really thought that I could break 5 hours but ended up at 5:19. It is going to make a great 50.
By the way, TrailMonster, I saw on CoolRunning that you were looking for a 50 (other than your own) to run before Vermont, and were considering the BullRun. As mentioned above, I'll be running the Wapack 50. Have you considered it? Mass is a heck of a lot closer than VA.

Well, I just found out that I got into the Bull Run Run so I'm going to do that. I did think about Wapack for a bit, but for some reason decided against it (I can't remember why).

I've got a place to stay in VA very near the start of the race, just need to figure out how I'm getting there and back. 10 hours of driving each side of a 50 miler isn't appealing, so I think I'll look into flying.
