Folks who care probably already know, but time flies. I thought it was next Wednesday.

Registration for the Ascent opens at noon Mountain (2PM Eastern) and the Marathon at 1PM (3PM Eastern).

They've also tightened the qualifications. The Ascent requires either completing one of the races in the past under a certain time or a completed half marathon (< 2:30) or a full marathon (< 5:30). The Marathon requires a either completing one of the races in the past under a certain time or completing a full marathon (< 5:30).

Good Luck. I think registering for the races will be more difficult that running them!
I will be signing up for the full marathon. Ran the full marathon in 2004. One of my favorite places to run. I've shared these pics before, so I thought I'd reprise them once again.

Well, I am registered again for the marathon. It took me a few minutes as Active was quite busy as you can see.
As far as I know PPA Wave 1 is still open, but will no doubt fill quickly.

"Register for the Pikes Peak Ascent - Wave 2: The 865 spots filled in 1hour 7 mins"
"Register for the Pikes Peak Marathon - Field 1: The 350 spots filled in ~26 mins"
"Register for the Pikes Peak Marathon - Field 2: the 375 spots filled in ~50 mins"

Horray! Are there any other KickRunners who made the registration race?

I was on the fence about running the Double. Anyway, I figured I would head out to lunch and if there were still openings for Wave 2 Ascent (its my first year for either race) when I returned I would do it. Fate never leads me wrong

It looks like the new qualifications slowed things down. I was able to register 45 minutes after registration open! BUHAHA.

If I remember correctly from last year, it was a few weeks before the Wave 1 Ascent filled. For locals, the Triple Crown Series is always an option. Last year, there were still openings for the marathon 1 week before the Garden of the Gods 10 miler.

I was on the fence as well about running the double. I kept putting my information in to register for Wave 1 Ascent, but each time I got to the payment section I backed out.

If all goes as planned I'd really like to take a shot at breaking 5:00.
In 2004 I ran 3:27/2:02 - 5:30. I need to work on climbing for starters and working on controlling myself on the descent. I would have probably run 1:45-1:50 if I hadn't fallen 5-times coming down. It is a goal. If I reach it I will be extremely pleased. If not then it will give me something to work on next time.

Hey Steve!

Thanks! It will be interesting that you won't be running PPA/PPM since you do it nearly every year. But LT100 is an even bigger prize.

Well, it looks like Leadville is off at least until 2009. As much as I want to get back out there, I'm not sure if I can commit myself to two 100s in the same summer. I will see you at KM100 in June. That I am looking forward to.

Our plan is to arrive in Denver on Monday or Tuesday prior to the race. Then drive to Colorado Springs shortly after. I'd like to go out there prior, but with work and all it doesn't look like it will possible.
