I know I haven't posted here in a long time. Due to life, I've decided to just have fun this season. I'm doing more long distance bicycling. Throwing in 5K's for the heck of it. And, doing a Oly tri series because, uh, well, I'm a triathlete?

Two weeks ago, I raced at East Fork. This is the hardest race in the series. I had a decent swim, managing to finish BOP, yet not DFL. The bike was wicked hard. Lots of climbing, and I don't climb well. But still I managed to pick up a few spots here, although I also lost a spot. Onto the run. Right out of transition is a hill. On a training run it didn't seem so bad. Race day, uh, yah. I walked it. But, back on the flats, I managed to make up ground. It's an O&B that you do twice. Starting my second lap, I spotted someone in my AG. I walked the hill again, but as soon as it leveled out, I passed her. At the turn around I realized she was still close enough to pass, so I kicked on the afterburners. Never saw her again. With no one in my dust, I relaxed a bit and enjoyed the finish.

I camped that following week. Hubby and son1 met me at the next race venue--Vermillion. I had planned to race, but ended up too sick. I don't know if I was just worn down from camping or if it was the pasta dinner, but something didn't agree with my gut. I went as far as to set up transition but knew it just wasn't going to happen. I dragged my carcass to outside transition, then to the finish to cheer on son1. He had a decent race, although he still needs to work on the run.

Yep! Favorite was riding up Friday, racing a 5K Saturday morning (snagged 2nd OA!!!) and riding home afterwards. In a couple weeks, son1 and I will drive up on a Thursday to take Grandma to the doctor, then stay overnight. Friday, we'll ride home, Saturday back to Grandma's, then Sunday ride the Hancock Hundred. Yah, a bit nuts but would you expect anything else?

What's also been fun about this season is racing for HFP. We're required to work before/during/after races. Son1 and I have been working the woman's only races on Saturday. Super, super fun! Only about the top 10% are actually racing seriously. The rest of the field is there just for fun. And these ladies come in all sorts of sizes and shapes. GREAT to see them out there having fun. We've been working transition--helping them set up before, catching downed racks during. Once most are through T2, I've been going out on the run course to cheer the ladies in. Super fun to be on the "other side".
