We camped out at Johnston Canyon campsite, a surprisingly uncrowded place. Saturday we hiked the incredibly crowded managed trail up Johnston Canyon and beyond the touristy sites to the still incredibly crowded Ink Pots, then on the back country trail for a bit.

I learned that I really dislike some people. Garbage littering the trails, idiots hiking in flip flops and complaining about their feet, people sliding down what amounts to a cliff to get to the gorge bottom with an infant. That sort of thing. Views were beautiful though.

Sunday we drove to Yoho NP and hiked one of the signature trails in the Rockies, the Iceline. It was a bit of a slog getting up to the glacier level, some 31 switchbacks just to get to the first moraine, then up and over and up and over and up and over. 710 metres height differential, but more like 900 metres in terms of elevation gain/loss over 7 km one way. Still, a gorgeous hike.

Monday we were a tad bushed, and looked for something simple. West of Banff townsite is a managed trail, partially paved for forestry workers that leads to Sundance Canyon. We strolled along the Bow River and then meandered up the canyon and into the woods. Ended the day at a pub where my love had here second beer in a week. The lush.
