Yes! Care should be taken when aisles intersect with lanes. People in the lanes have the right of way. It's polite for lane people to let aisle people go ahead of them, but if the lane people don't do that, aisle people should just wait a second until it's clear and then go. At no time should aisle people just bust out into the lane without checking.

I don't know about it either, Ilenie.

My current peeve:

People who use the sugar spoon to also stir their coffee and put it back in the sugar bowl. Ew. They don't always wash out their cup before putting in the coffee. I don't need your dang germs in my coffee or tea. Then again, I suppose I could just wean myself off sugar.

Today, it is whiny students who have been whining to me about the same sob stories all semester about why it is impossible to turn work in on a due date, or attend class, or come on time, or not have workout clothes, etc. I would so much rather hear the plain truth or nothing than listen to whining and weak excuses.

And also -- having to constantly re-explain the simplest directions to adults. Directions that have been explained since the beginning of class. Directions that are in writing in a class syllabus.

I try to have limitless patience with my students (or at least appear to), but I am human too and as spring term nears the end that becomes much more of a challenge.

Which is the Lane and which is the Aisle? The Aisles are the numbered ones? I just use caution at all intersections and try not to run anyone down...

Aisles are the numbered ones. You go to the bread aisle to find the bread, for example. Lanes are where they have the end caps and the little islands with other stuff they're trying to hawk that week. Plus a jillion people, their kids, and their carts. Gah!
