I just drank milk 9 days past its due date - had never gone over 5 days previously. <img alt="banana.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/banana.gif">

Eh, the local milk we get lasts long like that. The pasteurized kind, that is---the unpasteurized stuff doesn't last long (as it shouldn't).

9 days past due? Heck--I'd just like milk to last to the end of the week. I buy 4 gallons and the kids go through it by mid-week.

Congrats! I used some skim milk yesterday that was 4 days past the sell by date. If it passes the smell test (and obviously if it doesn't taste bad) I'm using it.

When we buy organic milk, it lasts forever. I understand that much organic milk is ultrapasturized. I don't know if it's true of this milk. However, it is sold in very robust glass bottles ($1.25 deposit), so we figure it isn't subject to as many changes in temp as milk in a plastic or cardboard carton would be, and that it helps.
