Just glad I'm not there watching it Tom. I don't think this Southerner could get enough clothes on to sit and watch a game like that. Die hard (hope not literally) fans will pack the place. I remember as a kid watching my hero Bart Starr play in that weather.

I used to go to Edmonton Eskimos games with my dad as a kid when we'd have temps like that. With all that body heat in the stands (packed closely together) and wearing lotsa layers and stuffed in a sleeping bag, a pillow to put under your rump, not to mention some "broth" with sherry (or is that the other way around?), it was fun!

I'm not sure the players that came from your neck of the woods were all that happy about playing in it, but the residents fare just fine. Today's fans also seem to have a few more "natural" layers than we did back in the day too.

The coldest NFL game I recall was the Chargers at the Bengals back in the early 80's. Bengals won and then went to get beat by 49ers in SuperBowl. The wind chill was -50. No one died, but one adult male was arrested (for his own protection) he went shirtless. I believe they arrested him on charges of public intoxication.

The Brett Favre era may have died last night? We'll have to wait and see.

Lawrence Tynes, the Giant kicker who nailed the 47 yarder after missing two, played a fair bit in the Canadian Football League including time with the now defunct Ottawa Renegades. Perhaps he is used to the cold. I kept shivering when they showed pictures of the Giant's coach and his overly pink cheeks--not too healthy. Were the heaters on the Giant bench really not working very well or was that just a media story?

First the World Series, now the Super Bowl (New England will kill the Giants), perhaps the NBA Championship: looks like Boston is #1 in sports. I even hear they have a marathon that is fairly good. Good thing they have the Bruins to keep them humble.

The morning news shows were all showing the shots of the Bikini Girls in the stands. On one station, the anchors are doing their chit chat as they go to commercial. The male anchor says you can really see their goosebumps. And the female anchor responds, and I'm sure this wasn't intended for over the air, is that what you call them - goose bumps?
