Lots of downs on the forum lately. Here's a link that will make your heart smile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqbVbPvlDoM

3.5 miles this morning at a brisk pace. 60 degrees and 70% humids. Breakfast rebelled at 2.6 miles Will get some more tonight.

Congrats Labduck on your recognition. Always nice
SS - I don't understand half what you're talking about but am glad I'm included in your conversations.

Good morning. The showers in my gym are closed this week so I decided to just stay home this morning instead of hustling out the door at the crack-o-dawn. I got almost an hour of extra sleep! Wow! Anyway, it'll be back to reality tomorrow as I'll be able to run and then shower at the ambulance corps before heading to work for my long day. But it sure was nice to get some extra sleep this morning. One of the nice things about rest days is that it leaves you itching to run the following day.

Have a great day,
An easy 6.1 miles at 9:21 min/mile pace to clear out some cobwebs and build up my amnesia. Ran strictly easy by feel and the avg. HR was 140. 70 degrees, 87% humidity at the beginning and 64% at the end, so some weather must be coming through.

I've been very conscious this week of getting enough sleep - even if it means getting to bed before 9:00 PM - and to eat a bit better.

Good morning all.

I've got a spare Get Out Of Jail Free card in case Tom or TripleJay need one. Congrats to LabD on his new title and raise.

I was thinking that dog looks more fun than some guys I've danced with! I love the Grease soundtrack. Thanks, Ksrunr.

Core day for me. Noontime Pilates and yoga after work, which I may or may not be able to attend.

Hope everyone has a great day! My other running friend is finally home from a couple of months in AZ! Woot! Woot!

Labduck, let me add my congrats! That's great news. My DH was a chemist but now he does safety (Hazmat, training, permitting, etc). And my youngest son is getting his PhD in inorganic chemistry at McGill. He also teaches grad students in chem and quantum physics (whatever that is!). I can't believe my little baby is going to be a Dr. soon.

Re the dancing dog -- isn't that neat? I've seen them do this in person at a dog show in Boston a couple of years ago. I've also seen horses do it in England. For my own dogs, I can barely get them to ring the bell when they want to go out, much less show any sort of dancing rhythm. The best thing they do (a credit to my stubbornness) is that they'll pee on command. This is a really handy thing to teach your dog to do.

Here's the choice someone posed to me:
Should I get a dog?

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik...82e5d67914766c

Or should I have a kid?

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik...82e5d67914766c

Just 5 EZPZ treadmill km. Didn't feel like going out and dealing with the world this morning. Will make the most of my gym pass and go back tonight for a strength workout.

Labduck, congratulations! Moss everywhere must be trembling in its boots. Or it would if it wore boots and were capable of trembling.

ksrunr, I've never seen anyone enjoy dancing more than that dog.

No running for me today as I have something we at the hospital are calling the "throw-up virus." Thanks for the doggie video, it put a smile on my face and tears on my cheeks. Why is it that happiness makes me cry these days? Is it age?

Good morning kicksters!
Labduck congratulations on your raise.
Ksrunr, took a half hour to download that video, quite hoot. Reminds of roy when I am getting ready to go running.
Monday hope you get over that soon, a few years ago I got a virus like, don't remember ever being so sick, setting on the toilet with my head in the trash can. Finally went to the hospital where there were lines of folks with the same thing, they gave me an iv and some medication that helped settle my stomach. Takes awhile to start get better so take of yourself.
Mustang it's great that you got to run in Red Rock area. It is really a nice area to run in the winter.
Breger says "An easy 6.1 miles at 9:21 min/mile pace to clear out some cobwebs and build up my amnesia" I am curious about the amnesia part?

Just a little reminder that spring will be here in only 4 more months.

Thanks for the video ksrunr.

Congrats Labduck.

Larry, I can not imagine being in your shoes. Our mom passed the 20th of Jan this year. The last year she was really ill. My brother and I were her only close family and we couldn't take care of her. From October till she passed, she needed 24 hour care and we had all kinds of help. Though neither of us lived with her, it was still hard. One thing we did learn - if we didn't take care of ourselves, we wound up with feelings of resentment towards Mom. She didn't deserve it and was in no condition to deal with it. watch out for "It's no that bad." and "I can handle it.". Quite often, we're conning ourselves.

4.2 miles with the dog "Evil White Thing". The cat came up with the nick name. She's a Samoyed her owners call "Angel". We did a simple out and back. The wind blew my hat off twice. The we saw deer on the out and on the back. On the way back, with the wind to our backs, the dog was interested in the deer. Since they did not come and join us, she lost interest quickly.

Hi Steve, thank you. The resentment part is a tough one and I have to check myself all the time on that, because I know that if she could get better she would. Then there is compassion and that part creates guilt for having the feeling of resentment in the first place. You said "watch out for "It's no that bad." and "I can handle it.". Quite often, we're conning ourselves." I am so guilty of that, I do con myself all the time. I see the logic but somehow it is nearly impossible to detach my emotions from that. The "yes but" thing comes into play.

I am quite impressed with your comment along with others in here on this and it is certainly appreciated.

I came down with the Caribbean Crud last night and could barley spelt me own name by the time we were picked up by the Coast Guard near Miami.
Thanks, choov for the card but I think Tom can talk us out of this one. Better save it for Knoxville. They know him down there.
I wish I we're more incrudulous about how well the whole thing went.

Happy Tuesday runs, workouts and/or resting everyone!

Thank you ksrunr. You always make me smile.

Congrats to you Labduck. Strut your stuff today

Thanks Choovie, I appreciate the kind thoughts from yesterday. Ate slabs o' beef with the Huz last night to continue celebrating our anniversary.

Larry, beautiful picture! You are in my thoughts. What you are going through is very difficult to go through on your own. My mother is taking care of her companion who has mid-stage Alzheimers and it's never easy.

SS, that sounds so yummy! Sounds like Taro root?
Run Ilene run! It's great that you're back! You and Mr. Forward are gonna have so much fun NEXT weekend in the desert!

As for me, running 3 easy miles after work today at the local track. I like to taper and eat like a sumo wrestler (curry on rice, udon noodles, spam musubi ).
