Dude....plan ahead much? We're a tentative only because we are planning to head back to MI next summer and have not coordinated with my sis. If we're in town then most definitely.

Well, that is a bit farther out than I'm used to planning, but supposing I'm still in the area and still alive, I should be able to make it. (You never know what can happen in that many months!)

I'll defer to Tammy and Kristine on recommendations for places to hook up. Down closer to them would probably make the most sense. Are you looking for a "Seattle" experience? Or just dinner with peeps and a clean hotel?

Dude- believe it or not, DH and I have already talked about this.

Since you'll be coming in on I-90 and will be sick of riding in a car we could meet in Issaquah or Bellevue. Unless of course you really do want the Seattle experience.

So tell us, what do you want Ron???

You know I'm down for a meet-up or two.

Underweear is indeed packed

Cars and hotels are already in shortdemand if you can believe it!

Ok Seattle, don't need the experience, been there 2x great town, its going to be day after ironman so I can only guess on food but i think Italian and/or seafood is safe

Portland, never been, totally game for whatever and no idea of lay of land so wanting ideas on areas to look for de net place to stay, nothing fancy. Homewood suites or similar is the normal I usually stay at

In both cases will have kids in tow unless inlaws decide they dong want to eat out (possible) in which case just me and dw. The kids eat about anything and can handle a long dinner with boring adults (7 and 10 but both have eaten out entirely too much!)

I'm soooooo stocked for this trip already!

let's get this party booked folks. Time to make some reservations 6/26 (6pm?) we drive in from CDA . First SEATTLE-land. I have a high school friend who lives out there and she was talking to DW about some places to eat. Any ideas? Here is their exchange:

There's Cafe Juanita in Kirkland which is high priced but a foodie's delight. Other less pricey but still excellent food options are Trellis in Kirland, Purple Cafe in Kirkland and one in Woodinville, Russell's in Bothell (caramel bread pudding to die for and excellent scallops), or for a more unique experience, they could rent the private room at the Melting Pot in Bellevue for fondue. (It's the same melting pot chain that is in the midwest but a more upscale franchise.) Even further north there's Emory's on Silver Lake in south Everett. Lodging should be even less expensive up there and you'd be even closer. They should all be online so you can look at menus and locations.

Any thoughts or comments? More north is good, in theory, but we are flexy. We need to find a place to stay still, that's on the agenda. I don't know the area.

SECOND: Portland! July 5 - anytime PM we drive in from Vancouver

We're in! We moved our trip to August so we will be in town. As far as a good place to stay, you can probably pick any major hotel downtown, park your car, and then walk or take city transit anywhere you want to go. Or if you want to stay closer to the airport, you can always take the Max into downtown.

And for food, what will you be in the mood for? What do or don't you eat? I'm sure we can come up with any experience from a traditional NW Brewpub to fantastic Thai street food to a food cart feast with beer included. Sky's the limit in PDX!

At current time I am headed out with Kristine and some friends to Cda to cheer on team LIT and our tri team. We'll be coming back in on Monday as well.

Bellevue is probably the most central place to all of us. Kristine and I are in the southend. TASM (I would assume) will be coming in from the U-district. Evening rush hour around here is the suck. Maggiano's is a great place for a group- big dinners, not too spendy, free parking, easy access... etc. PF Chang's is right there as well.

So is it Deschutes for the Portland meet-up? I'll have you know that Little BrewDad thinks they have the best mac & cheese in the city. Better even than Mother's Bistro and Laurelhurst Market. Too bad you can only get the pure version off the kid's menu...

I'm also harboring hopes of making the trip to CdA to cheer on Team LIT. Still a little too early to know for sure if I can swing it.

Don't worry about me coming from the U-District. I still prefer Eastside hookups. Something in the Woodenville/Kirkland area would be totally fine. Here's one hotel option I can vouch for. http://www.hiexpress.com/hotels/us/en/bothell/botwa/hoteldetail

(And dang, I thought this posted last night. :()
