FYI...dunno if you ever venture into the post-race tent...but there's a daily dinner and lunch thread there too.

Sometimes we get lucky and there's a breakfast, snack and alcohol thread.

I was thinking of getting the stuff to make chili...
but it's too hot here for that.

That's one of those things where you need a little nip in the air (imo) or it just doesn't FEEL right.

OMG!!! Yorkshire pudding is the best. My MIL makes this stuff that tastes like silk. I refuse to eat potatoes or meat when she serves it so I can slather it with as much gravy as I want and avoid getting my calories any other way but through the Yorkshire!!!

Grilled pork chop, baked sweet potato, steamed broccoli.
Do I need to count the frozen dark chocolate milky way bar I just ate? It doesn't count if nobody sees you eat it.

Ok, my wife says she doesn't have a gumbo recipe. She just kinda follows the recipe on the bottle of Savoie's Old Fashioned Roux and adds seasoning (Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning and garlic powder) as she goes along until it tastes right.

Can you even buy roux in the NorthEast or NorthWest parts of the country?

Anyway, you can make chicken and sausage gumbo, that's kind of the basic gumbo. Or seafood gumbo with shrimp, crabs and/or oysters. Or wild game gumbo like we usually have of goose and deer sausage.

Is this starting to sound a little like Bubba Gump?

Yum!! That was the only thing my cousin from England could cook - Yorkshire pudding and Toad in the Hole (basically sausages cooked in the Yorkshire pudding - yum!).

We're having roast chicken with roast potatoes and pumpkin, and the end of the plum pudding for dessert - yum!!
