Hello,

I recently had custom orthotics made for me. They are 3/4 length (more like 1/2 length, I suppose.) My question is about the sock liner in the shoe. My doc told me that I will put the orthotic over the sock liner, and just to cut the curled up edge of the sock liner by my heel and I should be fine.

I tried that and it felt like I was wearing high heels. The orthotic doesn't have that big of a heel, but it was certainly noticeable. I finally decided to remove the heel of the sock liner so that the orthotic doesn't sit directly on top of it. I did cut the sock liner in half so that my forefoot is on the sock liner.

What do you all do? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be doing what I'm doing. Thanks!

after futzing with mine, i made my podiatrist send them back and make them full foot then trim to fit in my shoe, instead of the insert that comes with them.

I have the full foot and when I send patients for orthotics I have them ask for the full foot. I would ask to have them sent back like Meri said she did, it uncomplicates the shoe liner issue.. just take the whole thing out!
