Thank you JJ! Good question.

I'm thankful not only for what running does to keep my heart, body and mind in a better state, but I'm thankful for the friends I've made primarily because of running. Were it not for running, I wouldn't have met my running partner, who along the way has become a best friend. I wouldn't have met all of you, which means I wouldn't have had the opportunity to do some of my most memorable adventures, like the relays, or get-togethers at different races.

I have no idea what this week will be like, as I report for jury duty tomorrow and most of my weekly running now takes place during my lunch hour.

Thanks JJJ.

Running gives me balance, and I'm quite thankful for that. But sometimes you get balance in ways that you wouldn't expect... such as having a pain on your left side instead of your right... but it's balance nonetheless...

Last week I opted skip a long run and do a double instead, just to mix things up. Now this week I'm looking forward a nice long run, but no plans have been made as of yet. But something tells me it's going to be a PR distance....

Another week much like the last. Next week I get to race again, and the week after I get to resume strength training, which I miss, and some harder workouts.

This week seems to be going backward in time?

Running gives me needed alone time. I feel like I'm surrounded by people, all with their own needs and demands, all the time. From work to home and everywhere inbetween. Maybe that's why I usually run alone and shun groups. A partner is fun every now and then, but mostly it's solo endeavor for me. I also feel like I've found something athletic that I'm pretty good at, so there's a nice sense of accomplishment also. But almost more important than any of that, I agree with Tamster that running has introduced me to so many wonderful friends, locally and online, that it's been a wonderfully enriching experience all around.

Warm fuzzy hugs for everyone!

Monday: 3 EZ miles on the treadmill, .66 mile walk w/u and c/d

Tuesday: 16 min. elliptical (1.8 miles), 15 min. U/B weights, 5.3 miles run, .66 mile walked

Wednesday: 10.5 miles with hills, 8:42 avg pace; .45 mile walk afterward

Thursday: 16:35 min. elliptical (2 miles), 10 min. weights, 6 miles run and .66 mile walked

Friday: Rest Day... didn't want to but I think I needed it.

Saturday: 10.3 miles of tough snowy running, .3 mile walk

Sunday: 20.1 miles run, .33 mile walk

Totals: 55.2 miles run, 2.5 miles walked, 3.8 miles on the elliptical and 2 x upper body weights. Ufda

And this is a late pick-up for me this week. Been just too darn busy..... or tired..... one or the other.

What am I thankful for? I'm thankful that running has given me a feeling of peace and well-being that I was searching for for many years (OK, maybe older age and letting go of worrying about what people think of me factors in, too). I'm thankful for all the amazing people I've met, both internet and otherwise.

I'm most thankful for the friends that I have met through running. I've always been shy, but for some reason I'm quite outgoing when I run. I never had more than 2 or 3 friends growing up, but now I can't even count how many wonderful and amazing people I consider friends through our running connection.

I intended to run slightly more.

But I erred on the side of low mileage as I've learned the hard way from previous long run recoveries.
