with my new goggles. I started my warm-up and was about halfway through the first 25yds when I started laughing. The goggles were so clear I could actually see. Somehow that struck me as funny and I couldn't stop laughing.

I made it back to pool side and pushed off to start the warmu up again, and again I started laughing.

My old goggles were so scratched and dirty I couldn't see very well and these made everyhting clear. it was an odd sensation.

Now I can see, but things are bigger, closer so I think I'm at the wall, flip and push, water... OK, I gotts get closer, nex ttime I don't really think about it and just before I flip, bamm I hit my head against the wall.

I put the goggles away and got the old ones out. Better nto see fuzzy then knock myself out.

I'm trying again tonight.

he he he he

I LOVE that "fresh eyes" feeling.
But, yeah....BAM into the wall is no fun.

If you wear contacts while you swim, you can always leave them out for the first few times of new goggles to simulate the scratched lens effect.

If you ever switch styles, too...sometimes things will look more funky.
I have a pair that makes things look VERY close.....lots more in the peripheral vision as well. First time I wore them, I got disoriented.

Now, they're my spares.....they also squashed my eyes just a bit too much and gave me a headache.

I think at warp speed and type at school zone speed.

I have to type and run to my next patient so I don't have time to edit.

This happens to me all the time, including the laughs. The part that always gets me, though, is that as good as fresh goggles sound, I'd honestly rather NOT be able to see that those little dots down there were actually fish. And it's not the fish that spook me; it's that those dots are sometimes turtles, and we have a few very big ones in the lakes and ponds around these parts.

Long live old scratched but workable goggles!

We can turn this into a children's triathlon book like the book "I Went Walking" (because that's what the title made me think of).

I went swimming Monday and what did I see?
The wall at the end of the pool smashing into me!

I went biking Tuesday and what did I see?
A truck trying to make a speed bump out of me!

I went running Wednesday and what did I see?
The UPS guy trying to turn me into an ER delivery!

I went swimming Thursday and what did I see?
The 75 yr old man in the next lane over swimming laps around me!

I went biking Friday and what did I see?
Two ******** in a pickup throwing beer bottles at me!

I went running Saturday and what did I see?
My neighbor's dog trying to make a chew toy out of me!

I went racing Sunday and what did I see?
My family at the finish line all cheering loud as could be!!

Sooo freaky - my guitar kids are doing blues projects right now, Dougie - your lyrics would earn you an A+!

Good start, but we need a refrain...do you want me to orchestrate orff instruments, classroom percussion and recorder into it too?

I can get my 3rd graders to do it...

Awe Tithers, leave it in 12 bar, Am blues, repeat the first line of each verse and we are good to go! I teach HS. Have not seen an orff anything in eons, how about a 200+ piece Marching band though? We got one of those!
Tooo funny! wish I could do that with some of the HS kids! These blues projects the guitar kids are doing are going to be either really good, or really painful. Though some of the lyrics they are coming up with are hilarious. I'll post a few of the good ones after they turn in the lyric sheets.

CS - If you would swim as fast as I do, it wouldn't hurt at all when you hit the wall. Speed is a big factor! Or in my case, lack of!

Boomwhackers are teh suck. I told Katie to take them with her...she likes them...I think you'd get a better sound out of PVC that's cut...the boom whackers are thin and cheap...hmmm...

I just like that there's an INSTRUMENT with the word "whacker" in the name.

That's just sooooo kid friendly.

Ya'll are cracking me up!! Orff instruments, recorders, etc... LOL My kids have BoomWhackers!! I think they are cool, but they aren't the greatest. They have yet to make a real song with them!! LOL They love hitting their little brother's head with them, though. "Hey, Mommy. It makes a different sound on his head!"

Doug- You are a great poet. I could never come up with something like that. I do know The Brown Bear, Brown Bear Book, though. I think I have it memorized!
