#1 Oregon vs #2 Auburn

oh wait

#1 Auburn vs #2 Oregon

That's probably better anyway as the #1 team gets to choose uniform colours and Auburn choose white or blue.

Oregon has enough different ones that they probably have 60 or 70 combos. My goodness today they didn't wear school colours in helmet, jersey, pants, socks, or shoes. That was a bit different.

But they still kept on winning.

I saw that Auburn is an early 3 point favorite. That's probably based on the SEC's reputation more than anything else. Well, that, and the fact that the best player on the field plays for Auburn.

But still, I'm kinda thinking that Oregon is looking good for this. As an SEC fan, I suppose I should root for Auburn so the SEC can with its 5th straight title. But something tells me that Oregon will take it. No matter what, it should be a fun game...

That's funny Bob because after watching both teams play a half dozen times this year I suspect the score will be 58-48, but I just can't get it into my mind that Oregon will win. I will cheer for them though.

Good to see TCU playing Wisconsin.

Too bad Boise had that hiccup as I'd really like to see them play a powerhouse too. Instead it looks like they'll stay home (to help ticket sales I'm sure) and massacre Ohio by 50 points to prove nothing, except move them up a couple of spots in the rankings. A loss in the WAC is like 3 in the SEC...and deservedly so.

Actually, it looks like Boise is going to prove whatever (grumbling) goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas when they most likely make Utah a whipping boy.

And because of that, I think that makes The Humanitarian Bowl the most likely candidate for the "Most Empty Seats Bowl" - normally this is Boise State's domain with it being on their home field, but they're not this year and I don't see Fresno State or Northern Illinois as having big traveling contingents nor generating a whole lot of local interest (though it is a good matchup.)

Other than Auburn v. Oregon, it seems like the Big Ten teams pretty much got put in very intriguing matchups. Stanford v. VATech oughta' be good as well, and there are a couple of potential scorefests I see in the lesser bowls (SDSU v. Navy and Hawaii v. Tulsa)

Looking forward to Auburn and Oregon.

Could be a very exciting game. I like Auburn to win though. I'm hoping for Oregon, but something inside me says Auburn. Probably the SEC thing.

Heh. I've been spending some time on the Gators' message boards, and a few Penn St fans have stopped by to discuss the impending matchup in the Outhouse Bowl.

The reverse-trash talking is quite amusing. Both sets of fans are arguing vehemently about which team sucks more.

"We suck, you guys are going to kill us".

"No way, our offense is terrible. Our O-line is like Swiss cheese".

"Oh yeah, well our defense couldn't stop the worst teams in our conference"...

Ah, the beauty of high-profile schools having down years and meeting up in a minor bowl game...

Boise vs Utah is a hell of a lot more interesting to me than Boise vs Ohio. I'm not sure that Boise at 12-0 would have fared much better as they would have been below TCU in the rankings....mainly because TCU destroyed Utah.

Utah played TCU with BCS Championship dreams and got their asses handed to them. The next week against Notre Dame they had a Virginia Tech-Dolly Madison letdown and got smoked again.

They are a pretty good team, and although Boise is better they need to bring their A-game or they will get beat.

The BCS game and all the BCS bowls (with the exception of the Fiesta (OK vs UConn) look pretty interesting.

Other than that the only one to interest me would be Michigan State vs Alabama in the Capital One (What's in your wallet?) Bowl.

How bout that Holiday Bowl... Nebraska vs Washington...good grief.

The big thing people have learned about Nebraska since that first matchup is that Taylor Martinez can't pass. Which isn't a very good quality. In a quarterback.

I look for washington to play them alot closer, but for Nebraska to win on the strength of their defense.

I watched the Big 12 championship game almost the whole way through, and was left thinking the same thing as last year when they played Texas.

"If Nebraska could pass at all, they'd have a team that could contend for the national title."

Judging by my across the street neighbors...who hail from Nebraska.

Speaking of Big Ten and SEC, and going back to what I wrote earlier about the Penn St and Florida fans arguing about whose team sucks more...

Here was a recent exchange by some Gator fans and one Penn St fan on the UF football message boards:

Quote:

Florida Fan 1: Wait until we unleash our secret weapon near the endzone. Here's a hint, we broke it out against Bama and all of their coaches knew we were gonna run it, as you could see said coaches on the sidelines telling their defense to look out for it.... If you guessed jump pass for an interception you would be correct.

Penn St Fan 1: At least you got near the endzone against Alabama... we were forced to throw picks and fumble out at the 30. Also, the PSU staff only works on perfecting their soft zone/ no pressure package. They won't spend this month watching film and making game specific adjustments. I guarantee if you try the jump pass, it will be the first time anyone in the PSU program has ever seen it.

Florida Fan 1: The more I hear from PSU fans, the more interest I gain in the clusterf**k that is going to take place on Jan. 1.

Florida Fan 2: I was just scanning their message board and they actually have some discussions on their board about the game. I don't know why...we fawking blow donkey balls... It is much better to wait for the game and see which team throws up on themselves more,,.,you cannot plan or account for the amount of sucktitude we are capable of any given day.

It goes on like this for a while. I don't think I've ever seen the fans of two proud programs make fun of themselves this much before. And apparently I'm right there with them, since I'm laughing at this as much as anyone. Yeah, it sucks to underacheive like this. But at least UF has won two football and two basketball titles in the last half-dozen years. You can't win every year, so you might as well try to get some enjoyment out of the seasons when you don't win...

Porty,

I didn't make my comments towards the big Ten. My comments were toward Nebraska, only. I've seen them play 3-4 times this year, and they can't pass.

I know they can pass in the big ten. Ohio State does it, and Purdue pretty much only passes.

The Gophers throw passes too, but they are just usually to the other team.

Ok let's take a look at these points

1) Yellow butt...hmmmm...is it a Golden Gopher butt??

2) Three yards and a cloud of dust

Well you would score every time at that rate, but since Seven Big Ten teams play on field turf there's not much dust.

3) Fat

I prefer big-boned...large frame...short for one's weight.

4) Stupid

I think all ELEVEN teams in the Big Ten are probably real smart except for maybe counting.

5) Slow

Slow is a relative term. One of my relatives is really slow.

6) White

One of these days a black kid is gonna play QB. Maybe not this century, but in the next one for sure.

Actually I really believe EVERY NCAA FBS team should be required to have at least a handful of white players.

7) not as good as the SEC

Well the best team in the country for the past few years has come from the SEC so if that's how you rate conferences it would be correct. The bottom teams from both really do suck so that's a wash. My question is how the heck did Mark Ingraham from Flint Michigan end up winning the Heisman for Alabama and not be playing for the Wolverines or Spartans.

...that really has nothing to do with conferences...I'm just interested.

BTW is Wisconsin loses to TCU it wil absolutely prove that on that day TCU scored more points. It will not prove the MWAC is better than the Big Ten. Now if Wisconsin wins big it will prove that the MWAC sucks...at least in the minds of most.
