Weird - the edit feature is just on an endless wait cycle. Figured I'd just reply to my own post and be done with it!

Busy day ahead. Lots of errands / tasks. I'm also heading over to Stone Mountain for the 24 hours of Booty (cancer fundraiser) event. A good friend of mine is a team leader. This is her second year doing the event, and she's spent the last 6 months organizing 30+ people for their team. I'm going to head over before they officially start to maybe help with setup issues & to be an athletic supporter! :) Should be a fun afternoon. The temps are only going to be 61F by noon, so I certainly feel sorry for these guys & girls who will be spending the nights in tents this evening! brrr!

Hope everyone has a maaaahvelous day!

up early for the 5k - blah. the race shirt the company gave us is less than ideal. I had to get a freaking small (I should never have to do that) and the upper section is still bulky (yep no chest on this one). I don't think I can race in it

I have to go from the race directly to the fitness assessment thing. Testing the flexibility should be interesting after a race!

Then I am taking a nap :)

Melis - if you are right around that time, feel free to join on it. I may or may not be yelling at her to get up the hills though. She already approved the tough love :)

Happy fall, all!

Brandy--We won't hold you from your duty or expect pacing from you, but you may well be in our sights. I'm pretty good on the up hills. I can take being sworn at and get pretty salty myself (ask Goon and Kev). My only concern at all about this race is not the training and not the will, it's the hip. I'm actually very excited and about to do the two mile shakeout to see how it goes.

Good luck on the 5k and...the reason your shirts are too big is because you are small. I would fully guess a medium is too big for ya.

Sounds like a great event, Ail! What a good friend!

Moe--laughed about your squirrel story on FB. Maybe he wants coffee?

Oh, I got a masters (F 40-44) bib in my race packet. For the 10 miler? "Can this old lady make it 10 miles do you think?"

Morning ladies (and all who follow)!

Melis - isn't Twin Cities the masters championships? It is weird they have those bibs though - who wants to wear 2 bib numbers?
YES!! Super excited. I have run loads of miles, some great workouts, and I lost 9 lbs. I have put in my work and am ready to tear the roof off the windy city. I just need the weather gods to cooperate. Oh, and to not get sick. Everyone seems to be getting sick right now (puts on surgical mask and rubs sanitizer on hands). It is weird though, I woke up today and the muscles in my legs were all wicked sore - of course yesterday was a rest day. Taper twinges have begun! Must mean my muscles are healing up, huh?

Brandy good luck with the 5K. Sorry the shirt sucks. I never expect race shirts to fit well or be flattering, They just usually aren't.

I so wish I was in the Twin Cities this weekend! Woot Woot - the weather looks fabulous and you are all ready to roll! Rawr! Go get 'em ladies!!!!

Getting ready to head out the door for my hike today. I've got myself layered up, plus a few extra things in my backpack if needed. It's a good thing my hiking boots are waterproof and have good grips, as the trails are probably pretty wet. We've had a lot of rain the past few weeks.

Oh!! Hey!! Masters are competing?? Maybe I'll win!!! Fly past 3,000 in the final kick. No one give me a banana or it'll count as outside assistance and they'll take it away....of course, even if I do win, there are males on the course and Brandy pacing, so they'll consider that unfair and take it away, anyway.

YOU ARE READY!! Rawr, indeed. Love it. Have fun, Bard! Time for the shake out, cats and kittens.

Butt tape and 5 WINDY, wet and cold miles. It actually wasn't too bad.

Except right after we took Dh's car up to get new tires, and now I'm having breakfast (carrot ginger soup!), and am COMPLETELY chilled. I need a ht hot HOT shower. A LONG one.

Great minds and all that.

I guess my only concern is the rest of the colors are on the cheery side, will the floor be too blah color-wise? Too busy? (OH! I just got an idea for reference. One of my clients at the agency was a slate company, and they did flooring. I should check out pics on their web site. <- and yes, I did that.) It's just hard to tell when I'm looking at a sample swatch that is only 4" square. (Ok, so I grabbed 4 squares of each color so I could see better, but still. 8 inches isn't enough.)

I'm probably over thinking it, for being an easy temporary fix till we decide what we really want to do.

Crane, this is the closest pic I can find, to the flooring I'm looking at and the colors in the kitchen. Ok, I'm yellow, not orange, but still.

hiya all

well the 5k went AWESOME. the course is a challenging one..basically you start at the end of the marathon course and run back up summit and the turn around and finish where you started....so yup hills.

so splits were like 734, 737, 722, 707 pace for the last little bit. 23:20 total (previous PR 24:15)

amazingly I was freaking 18th woman overall!!!! omg. Just amazing

Then I did the fitness assessment thing and was happy with that :)

Now for coffee and a walk with pups

Wow, great job Brandy! Congrats!

Well, I didn't do a run. I started to go, but after half a block, I decided my leg wasn't feeling right, so I quit. Since I'm not training for anythign specific right now, I figured it was best to rest up than to force it. Now I'll spend the rest of the day drinking beer and watching football. Kinda the opposite thing, health-wise. Oh well.

Hell yes Brandy! HUGE PR - that is awesome!!

I have not yet run today. Had pee wee football (another win!) and then I was going to go. But we got back and our basement was flooding and we are waiting for a plumber. Decided to hold off on the run since he may not be here until 5 and I don't want to sit around all sweaty and cold for 5 hours. Grrr.

Hi all - worked a little OT yesterday; a frustrating last couple hours there and a kinda' long week in general mentally led to a fairly good sleep last night.

Weather is overcast here; thinking of going out for about 7 miles sometime today. It's nice to see some relatively decent mileage on the monthly docket again (yeah, it's only 70 for last month, but I'll take it.)

Cooked up one of my BAP's today (Big Ass Pancakes) for breakfast, this time with apple with the diced fruit. Definitely works better with maple syrup than the peaches, nectarines, and blueberry versions I used in the past.

I remember having to pin two bibs on in the 10K I did in Malaysia two-plus years ago. I thought it was a bit strange, but to paraphrase a popular saying, when in Malaysia, do as the Malays do...

Sounds like you TCM'ers are going to have some perfect running weather based on what I see on the Weather Channel (I remember it being a little bit warmish last year) - speedy vibes to you and all our racers this weekend!

Brandy - 18th OA is pretty sweet; congrats on a super-fast 5K!

I'm glad the sign went off so well, Amy... and Kath - great looking earrings!

Anyway, better get moving and figuring out how I wanna' tackle the rest of this day
