Good morning everyone. No running this morning. I think for a while it will be afternoon running. That will have to be the schedule for now. The plan is for 5 or 6 miles depending on how I feel. Have a great morning everyone.

Uh, my calendar says Tuesday Nov 8, ELECTION DAY. I assume this is Tuesday's thread with the wrong date? It's Tuesday which means fishbowl. 2000m of going back and forth. Still can't put a lot of umph behind the arm, but certainly improving. Beautiful day so most likely will take the hound to the park later.

Kevin- Afternoon runs due to the weather?

Mom- glad to hear the arm is getting better

I got in a 7 mile Tempo run today w/ 5 @ goal HM pace (sub 7:30). Splits were 7:16,7:18,7:19,7:29,7:19. Super windy and warm today, so I am pleased w/ those numbers, but I wish that pace felt a little easier. I would really be happy with a race avg pace of 7:30, but I'm training a little harder, so maybe 7:30 will feel easier on race day..?

Well, I don't think my legs have been this sore after a marathon for a long time. My quads are just trashed. Hopefully I'll see some improvement by tomorrow. No running (other than chasing DD) until the weekend of later.

kfuller - hope the new schedule works out

4boysmom - nice job in the pool.

BBS - nice job on the tempo. Pace is always easier to find on race day. Sometimes I'm not sure how I can race at a pace that feels tough or out of reach in training.

I voted. The way the calendar in VA works there is an election for something every year. Other than some noise over the local school board elections it's likely to be quiet day at the polls. Still I always go and vote.

Cross training day today...fishbowl. It almost didn't happen, though. I was packing my gear bag this morning and could not locate either my swim shorts or goggles. Hmm...what are the chances they're still in the suitcase I brought back from the Caribbean a few weeks ago? That's my best guess. If not there, option #2 may be St. Thomas. But I didn't have time to go down to the basement and start searching suitcases, so I just grabbed my backup pairs of each...Columbia swim shorts that I had just last night packed into a winter clothes storage bin and a pair of purple tinted Speedo goggles. And with that, the plan was back on.

BBS - my last tempo run (Saturday) was kind of like that too. I think it gets that way when you're finishing off peak intensity. With a proper taper that pace should be there on race day.

4bm - nice job on the swim

kevin - enjoy the afternoon trot

RA - your quads can thank all those bridges. Mine hurt pretty bad last year, too, and that was despite wearing calf sleeves for the race. Smart to take some recovery time...I took me about 5-6 days to even contemplate a run after NYC, and aside from a few very light jogs here and there, I took from running off until Thanksgiving.

Nice job, Dan!

Splishing and splashing all done. 1000 yards. Kind of my standard number in the pool. Then into the sauna for some stretching. While in there another guy in there asked me if I ran today. Kind of surprised I admitted no, it was a cross training day. He mentioned he'd seen me running out there in the office park...apparently I'm something of a celebrity, or oddball curiosity, one or the other.
