OK, I'll start. I saw feels like 34 this AM (first time under 40 here) and considered doing elliptical but then I channeled my inner Evanflein and got my ass OTD. It wasn't so bad after all. 2.25 miles.

Looking forward to a report from Mariposai!

ETA I am lucky that even though it's still dark for my entire run these mornings, the boardwalk is lighted so no fear of getting run over!

One more week of this morning darkness!

heavenly 57f this morning; easy 7mi 8:30 pace.

saw some elliptical bicycles the other day. weird things with two wheels, more like a scooter, but with elliptical type motion so the guys standing riding it were getting the same kind of workout they'd get at the gym. two guys were cruising going downhill... the toys looked kinda heavy, so i think uphill was going to be a different story.

Did Karnanzes ride from San Fran to LA on one of them ?

We have daylight saving in the UK and this meant although it was dark at 5am it was 9 degrees so I got the road bike out and did 100minutes, seems like weeks since I was outside on the bike:¬) The weather has only improved since then and at lunchtime I ran 4 miles in what felt about 15degrees(centigrade). Downside it is 1655 and pitch black outside.

Have a lovely day ?

Yea, I'd like to see someone on that try to get up my hill.....10% grade for a half kilometer....... even the road guys have some difficulty on it.

3 mile RAL, trying to work on a faster turnover and soaking up some sunshine despite the 5°C cold. Couldn't quite translate the cadence into an "easy" run, despite dialing back the stride length.

Good running, everyone!!!

mmmm.........we get the DST thing next week Gobi. It will be light in the morning when I run but yea, leaving work in the dark does suck.

Did we have an October cycling thread? eeeek I rarely if ever posted to it.

Start one if you want, I would like to get a few more rides in myself. I'd really like to MTB some but I don't have one and my friend fundsalow has visited me.

Hey hally, are you still geochaching? I think I saw some folks doing that on my run Saturday. I don't remember you mentioning it recently.

I think it was warmer here this morning (62°F) then in Tucson. Strange.

Looks like the chia pet of bikes, mc.

It must be getting darker. I can't stop cooking, so it must mean I'm hunkering down for winter. I have enough veg curry to feed the entire June Taylor dancer troupe. Made a chocolate wafer/whipping cream dessert and almost hoovered the whole thing. Today it's Parmentier au Saumon.

Lounging today. However, I did hike about 8 hours yesterday, 3000'. Mushrooms aplenty this year!

"hoovered the whole thing." Heh, I love that term. Very appropriate at times. Nice looking 'shrooms there, SS. Are those chanterelles?

Glad to be of assistance, Hally! Nice to be able to run on the boardwalk. I think I know that friend of yours... (another greta term!)

Odd looking contraption, that ellipti-bike. Think I'll keep mine separate.

The mountains sure were pretty this morning. DST ending doesn't matter much to me. The whole idea of "saving" daylight is stupid. Not like we can bring it out and use it later. Geez, I wish. Soon we'll be going to work in the dark, and coming home in the dark, but I get a beautiful view of long sunrises and sunsets from my office window. It's not so bad, we'll start gaining in a couple months, heading back to our endless days of summer... *sigh*

I'm planning a RAW on my TM. Too bad in a way, it's much warmer today than yesterday was.

Its is a bit chilly isn't it?

I'm considering taking a rest today after (and I know I shouldn't do this), running a lot in the last few days to make 100+ miles for the month.

Hi everyone. Hard to believe it, but my son is 19 today. So in honor of his birthday, I set out to run 19 miles today. Got as far as 17.5 and called it a day. Guess DS has to get younger after all.

Looking forward to hearing all about Mariposai's Marathon adventures!

Lab,

Yes I am still caching. I slow down in summer a bit(but not completely) because of cycling, ticks, poison plants and chiggers. But will be much more active in winter.

Speaking of which I like to peak in on Daave's caching profile to see what he's picked up in his travels. I think I will go do that now (much more fun then working or trying to decipher which healthcare plan to pick)

The dude on the ellptibike-thingy is just WAY too happy! Although the more I look at the picture, he does bear a resemblance to millbot...

Most people don't run 17.5 miles on a Monday unless it's the Boston Marathon. Nice Monday-DS-is-now-19 run for you OM!

I'm about 3 lbs underweight right now. Perhaps SS would share her veg curry with me?

I don't normally bitch about my work, but if I did, today would be one of those days. Grrrr... (but it's better than being homeless)

Nice Monday LR, OM!

Yeah, it was brisk but nice nonetheless. 29F, sunny, no wind. Time for some intervals: 6 x 0.4 miles + 90 sec jogs. Fast parts inthe 7:20-7:30 range. Felt greta!

Now I have to map out a route for Erika and me this Thurs!

I can't believe Lab is complaining about anything other than moss!

The ellpitigo reminds me of what I saw Saturday on the tour ride. 2 guys rode their unicycles the full 46 mile ride. The tires on their cycles were extremely tall, fat and comfy.

Lab, no complaining when you're a director. OM, our DD turns 17 in January so maybe I'll be able to run that far by then. I doubt I'll have a reason to, though. No long races on the schedule.

I have a run to post already! Did a treadmill run to mitigate the intensity on my calves. Warmup 1 mi., then fartlek 3 miles. When I felt like it, I cranked it up from 10:20 to 6:58. The first few times I only did about 30-45 seconds, then I gradually increased it up to about a minute & a half. Cooldown 1 mile. My quads were a little fussy, so I was glad I avoided the elevation factor because you know I like to run fast downhill but that would have trashed my quads. It's fairly hilly near that Y, too. Did a little yoga, Dancer's pose, for a few breaths on each side, then repeated. I'm very pleased with this run.
