One of the obys has a disability and the school recommended a tablet PC to allow him to take notes and record at the same time.

A friend pointed us in another direction, to a smartpen. We've looked at all sorts of video demos and reviews like this one and have got one. I figure that if the oby doesn't take to it I could use it. It synchs the notes with the sound so that you can jump back to what was said when the note was taken.

Will let you know what we think.

That's great grizz. In the Special Ed class I took this spring, I was amazed at some of the technology available to help students and workers.

I think the oby needs a tablet too. LOL, just because I want him to have all the gadgets.

Yes, let us know! DS has some fine motor issues and currently in HS they provide the notes for him but as he progresses he will need a way to keep up with notetaking ( he wants to be a civil engineer.. so will be college bound in 3 years!) It is great that there is new tech to help them keep up with the notes, because there are some brilliant minds walking around who just need a little help with some really minor handicaps that should not stop them from being what they want to be!

No worries. Colleges have note takers too. They were good jobs for students who took great notes because all you had to do was photocopy your class notes for the person.
