Thanks for checking in, Eric. I hope your training and your race goes well.

TAK - I, too, am eagerly awaiting the arrival of "250 lbs of twisted steel"
Nice to see you both, Jim & Joe! Maybe we can get some traction with the thread and perhaps get together to run or at a race (as some of us have in the past)

Jim - you ran hard and fast at CIM, and it was just 4 weeks ago. If the "one day per mile raced" axiom is true then you should just now be ready to get back to business. I had a rather crappy 2007 both runningwise and in having just too much to do. I chose Napa because the training and race work around my other true vice, senior baseball. Training has been going well, and I'm hoping for a solid, if unspectacular, buildup and race. There is a new marathon here in Fresno in November. So if Napa goes well I'll put all of my eggs in the local basket and try to approach my elusive PR again. Fresno is where I ran my current PR and is also where I grew up. This should be a flat and fast course, if you are so inclined

Joe - what happened to your toe? Hopefully it's not too serious. Maybe if you get back on the road you can run the 5K at Napa? I ran it years ago when I was there to pace a friend running the marathon. Funniest thing, the age group awards looked like ribbons that you'd see at a horse show or something. I joked that they checked all of our teeth before the race

Happy New Year, guys!
Hi Kristin

Thanks for checking in. Sorry I won't get to meet you at Napa. I understand that Eugene is a great event and look forward to hearing how you like it.
I've run your hometown (CIM) race 4 times(!) You live in a great running area.
Is the half that you ran last year a trail race?
Jim (or anyone) running the Kaiser Half in SF on Sunday?
I was debating between the two, but a chance to hang with my kid won out ... no offense
