No Yoga for Southern Baptists

The Southern Baptist leadership does almost as much as the LDS leadership to make their respective denomination look and act like a cult. Most Southern Baptists are not of this mindset. Just amazes me at times how far the church I was raised in (SBC) has strayed from their roots.

Taken in a purely religious context, his objection is not quite as absurd as it sounds. However, where I think he misses the mark is in believing that Baptists are actually subscribing to "the idea that the body is a vehicle for reaching consciousness with the divine." I think most people, especially any Baptist practitioners, are simply using it as a way to maintain their fitness.

I dunno - yoga is a religious practice from a heathen religion. I think all good Christian's and Muslims should eschew it.

To be really serious, it's not like the major religions haven't taken heathen traditions and given their own religious bent to them, if you believe the history (i.e. taking ancient Roman festivals and transforming them into Christian-related celebrations)
