That's right people of the world the snow has been replaced by 7 degrees almost warm :¬)

Jogged around the weekly 5km in 21.30 ish with MrsG who got an easy win as first lady, decided to skip the XC race as I cannot do the event I would have qualified for by placing at this one. XC is just not a priority this winter.

Planning on another turbo session later but nothing heavy as I hope to run quite hard in the 10km I have tomorrow.

Have a good one

Mornin' Gobi! Congrats to MrsG!

Hi TW!

AWOL yesterday both here and at work to get my car fixed (all minor stuff), so had no time for the core work I'd planned.

Today I already have my red bathing suit on under the fleece and am waiting for my friends to pick me up for the Speedo Run downtown. Have raised somewhere around $600 for Sick Kids Hospital. Thankfully the weather is cooperating and temps are up to +3°C, a far cry from the -13°C morning that the 10 folks in the publicity group went out in for the local news on Thursday!

Have fun Robin! I want to see pictures from your run, too!

Enjoy the day everyone!!

Hiya Heme. Happy Speedo-ing.

Morning Gobi and tomwhite, and hi to all who follow.

I'm enjoying the warmer weather also. About 30F and very little wind this morning.

13.0 miles in 1:54:30. Much easier course today than the past two weekends - there were hills but they were rolling, not steep (except for that last one which was much longer and steeper than I remembered.)

Cut back week coming. I hit 40.5 miles for the first time since last summer, and have run over 150 miles in the past 30 days. That's probably some sort of PR for me.

Congrats on the win to Mrs G and I hope you rock that 10k tomorrow, Gobi. Somehow, I'm sure you will.

Enjoy the snow tomwhite. Sugarbeet on your roads? I can't imagine...

I loved the pictures of the speedo run you posted earlier, last year? Heme! Have fun and ^5 on the fundraising!

Happy cutback week for you, Brian. Well, upcoming. Always feels good to end a big week just feeling tired (vs beat up).

Rip, wow on the incline running. I think my TM maxes out at 12% but I don't think I've ever tried it. Should sometime just to see how it feels.

DH heads out to Dallas today, flight leaves at 12 noon. He's not packed, and has things to get at his office, and he's sitting here next to me surfing the 'net. It's 8:40 a.m. I'd be going crazy. I don't know how he does it. And yes, he'll make his flight, but why invite the added stress? As for me, I'm going to try to get DS2 to help me drag the tree up from the garage. I think my last cleaning binge down there buried it in a corner. I'll try to get a run in later, but no pressure. I like this plan-less living. For now.

They use sugarbeet solutions to help de-ice the roads in Washington state. I had to develop an automatic car wash product that could remove it from cars. I used laundry detergent surfactants to make it work, which is not the best way to clean hard surfaces. Too inefficient and costly. But it sells well in the wintertime.

I'm drinking coffee this morning and going through college football withdrawals. Watching the monsoon out my window, wondering if I really want to race in this crap tomorrow. Yuck. I'm sure swimsuit running pictures of Heme will brighten the day!

I'm coming back but still have a ways to go for a good 5k. I did get an AG award, which was a beautiful Christmas Tree ornament, and it was great to see Paul in action. I'll let him tell his story. I almost puked right before the finish so you know I gave it all I had, for 25:46. That's 1:14 faster than 2 weeks ago in Arkansas. So I have mixed feelings. I really want an 8-minute pace but I know it'll have to wait until I get some good intervals under my belt. The purpose of this was to find out how those will shape up. Thanks for listening, friends.

eta-As you can tell, I'm in a bit of a funk so I have to admit I'm looking forward to Speedo Ms. Santa pics too!

Opie, that's awesome. Any good 5k effort will make you almost puke. But I've only actually puked after an 8k that I tried to run at 5k pace. Ugh!

C'mon Heme, we need pics!

Great race Opie, your training is paying off nicely!

Heme, you know we are all waiting for pictures!

Ribs, how is life and running?

Erika, I know the feeling of planless running, actually it feels so good just going out to run at heart's desire and not because training dictates it!

Gobi, good luck to you tomorrow! and congrats to Mrs. Gobi!

Brian, that is a great effort on your 13 miles today!

Wondering how McSolarBoy did on his 20 miler today!

Well, the house is decorated (not much into Christmas decorations, I have a collection of manger scenes and that is pretty much it)! Traditionally we will not put the Christmas tree until the night before Xtmas, but we keep it up until the 3 kings day, January 6th. It is our own Posie family tradition and this year I asked the boys if they wanted to have the tree up this weekend, their response...of course not...we always do it on Xtmas eve....so I guess that is what we will keep on doing.

Still no running, but I will go out for a longish run in a few minutes.

Afternoon all.

I ran the same race (Faster than Pastor 5K) as Opie this morning. A local race for me, I ran from my house to the start for my warm-up (4.7 miles). I registered, met up with Opie and went for a 2 mile warm-up run with him. This is a small race and I had told Opie that I thought that I might be able to win it this year. We lined up at the start and I was checking out the competition. There were two runners I was concerned about. The race started and there I was the lead runner, that's a very uncomfortable position to be, so at the first turn around 0.5K into the race I eased up a bit and let the kid who had been on my heels take the lead into the strong North wind. I followed him for the next 1K or so up the biggest hill, but he began slowing too much, so I passed him and was in the lead again. This was an out-and-back race, so at the turn-around I saw that he was about 200 yards behind with 3rd and 4th about 400 yards behind him. Most of the final 2K was downhill, so I tried to pick up the pace and build a little cushion. The final 0.5K was slightly uphill and I could hear him closing a bit on me, so I tried to put a little more kick in at the end. I finished probably 100 yards ahead of him to win the race. First race win for me with a time of 22:27. Stuck around for the awards and to visit, then ran home for a cool-down run.

Have a great weekend.

Smart racing Paul.

Opie - you're going to get there.

Ran my 1/2 marathon today. 2nd master, 5th oal, 1st age group. 79% age grade. 1:27:37. First half against 15-20 mph wind and second half back and plus 60 degrees. Gave you a target Lab.

Erika - that would drive me crazy too. My dw is not that bad but she can cut it closer than me.

wow, mc... that's a lotta miles. I think I'd fall apart. Good job on the 20 miler today.

Yay Paul! How cool to win the race outright.

Mariposai, we put our tree up later than many and keep it up longer than most. Sounds like we're on the same schedule!

Ok, I've gone through several piles. Found some paperwork I'd been looking for for weeks, if not months. Amazing. I thought I was the packrat.

Still no run, but it's early yet and I have no plan other than to do something active today.

Wtg on the OA win Paul! That must have been pretty cool.

ks, nice race for you too under those nasty windy conditions. I hate wind. My expectations for tomorrow's half have changed to reflect my crappy November training, and the monsoon we'll be running in. If I finish 1:32 or faster, it will be goot.

mc - dude - you're a machine!

mari, I like you Christmas tree tradition too. It's cool your kids like it. As I get older, I'm glad my sisters and I have kept up some of our family's traditions. I guess I'm getting sentimentally sappy as I approach 50!

The snow kept coming down harder and harder as I covered the miles. I got soaked inside and out. I need to invest in an better light shell. The last 5 miles it was sticky and I had to stop here and there to take the snow from the bottom of my shoes. Hard work, specially asthma is in its worse for over a year.

..... and KS....... fabulous 13.1 miles. I'm so happy that your knee held up.!

OK now.... you are all going to have to wait for the pictures, as my friend who took them hasn't emailed them to me yet. About 50 of us ran around downtown Toronto, thru Christmas shoppers in the expensive part of town, in red Speedos, for charity. We had two of the national networks out there filming, and were on the 6 o'clock news. Together, we raised around $30,000 for Sick Kids Hospital. Here' a shot of the gang that someone posted a couple of hours ago (I'm in the back row)..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/pipeddream/5252657784/in/photostream/

After putting the fleece back on, I had to run about 7 blocks thru downtown to make it to the commuter train back home, with a Santa hat, bells on my shoes and a backpack.
