A nightclub would most likely give you the largest variety.

Neighborhood, most likely the usual drinks/beer.

Hotel/etc. Wine, Beer, very limited amount of mixing as they may generally be pouring out of a portable bar.

I agree that a nightclub type place would get you the most exposure to the drinks but then there is more pressure to get them made quickly and correctly.

Now I have visions of Sporti as the Tom Cruise of Cocktails.

show me the MONEY!

... channeling Tom, haha

most of those I've talked to think a hotel, esp one with conventions or near an airport, would have me making a higher percentage of cocktails than the average bar where the majority will be getting beer ... and that the clientelle is usually bizz class on the companies dole and spending more freely ...

I think it'd be fun to work in a nightclub but also think the sweet YOUNG things would make a lot more tips than a mother-figure like me, hahaha ... and the non-stop techno remixes would likely drive me batty ... I'd LOVE to work somewhere that has live bands on the weekends .... but ... the fast pace would definitely be intimidating at first ...

I think the least fave would be a restaraunt since I'd likely only sell beer and whatever 'fancy schmancy' specialty drinks they have on their menu ... then my training would be for nothing.

I would go for hotel bar.

Nightclub probably wouldnt hire you unless you are willing to dress like a hooker and look 22. Convention centers dont serve a whole lot of variety...mostly beer and cheap wine and neighborhood bar would also be mostly beer unless it was a college joint. Upscale restaraunt might also be a good way to go.

ha, muzic, I am competitive enough that your post almost seems like a challenge! I do think I'll concentrate more on upscale hotels, country clubs and such but won't rule out nightclubs and trendy bars ... I look good enough in clothes that coupled with dim lights I might do alright for another few years with the sweet young things if I happen to land a younger crowd hangout type gig ... at least that's what I'm going to tell myself! :p

Hotel.

The lady who sold me my W/D and fridge at Sears last week struck me as an atypical Sears appliance sales drone so I asked her what her background was. She had been a bartender for 20+ years in clubs and recently got out of the business cause she was always let go first in favor of the younger barkeeps.

It was pretty funny, she REALLY appreciated that I thought she was a bit out of place and bent over backwards to take good care of me after that.

I need to check out some of the hotels on the job openings list and see what their policies are for not only whatever bar/restaraunt they hire bartenders for but how they deal with banquets/functions requiring a bartender ... private parties can be pretty nice from what I hear ...

and jewna ... I am likely going to have to travel to c-bus to get a decent job, at least till I have experience backing me, but there are quite a few country clubs listed on the site ... and we do have a nice local one which is basically owned by the lady that also owns the company my hubby works for, lol ...

First off, you are hawt and could pull off any night club young babes or not. You have it, flaunt it. Motherly type my ass.

Second, a place that does catered affairs sees people ordering all types of drinks, and a lot of times you get those people who stand there not sure what to order so you can suggest something. You don't have to worry about a following there and it's great experience, especially the cocktail hour. You will also get those requests for old folks drinks that none of the damn kids these days knows how to make. Sheeesh give me the damn muddler, I'll make my own old fashioned

An upscale restaurant that gets a wait for tables is also a good deal. You might get some people who will opt to eat at the bar and you can do service too. You will do great.
