A fella out walking his dog today said to me "atta girl!" as I ran past him.<br>
That was nice.<br><br>
This other time, a gentleman said "ooh, mamacita!" as I jiggled past him.<br>
I guess that was nice too.<br><br><b>What nice, funny or odd things have pedestrians said to you while you were out running?</b>

Once someone asked me "How many miles are you doing today?" I was doing something like 4, and said so. He said, "That's more than I could do! Go get 'em!"<br><br>
When I run in the small town where I live, I always see co-workers or students driving and get a wave or hello. People are friendly there, so it's common to exchange a simple "Hello" or "Good morning" with a smile with anyone I happen to meet on the road.

While passing a guy on a hill : "wow, good for you."<br><br>
From a guy we crossed paths with 3 times on along run: "You're going to <i>kill</i> that marathon!"

I usually run without a shirt (tender nipples you understand :blush<img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"> and sunglasses - so it's not easy to see that I'm actually a middle-aged guy - so the nicest things said to me are when gals drive by and I get an occasional "whoohoo!" <img alt="banana.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/banana.gif"><br><br>

I was passing somebody a couple miles from the end of a long race last year and he said "looking strong" as I went past him. I know I've never said anything to anybody passing me near the end of a race, but it made me feel good, so I am committed to doing the same if somebody blows past me near the end of the race...well maybe not if I think I might be able to catch back up to him.<br><br>

sometimes during races people tell me what place I'm in, and that's very nice (even if they're wrong).<br><br>
during a long run, a homeless guy in the park stopped mumbling, looked right at me and said "you're applying too much pressure."

I've had a runner high-five me on an especially hot, humid day. Another one raised her hands and chimed out "yay, us!" for being out on a really cold, windy day. Then there's the construction guy that asks me how far I'm going whenever I pass.<br><br>
But I like Anti-Kewt's uterus line the best. <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

Yesterday at the end of my race (my first 1/2), this lady, whom I thought I was chasing the entire race, came up to my husband right after I finished and said that she had a hell of a time keeping up with me and that I did a really good job. I totally didn't hear her b/c I was walking around a little and trying to recover, but it was really nice of her to say that. I thought she was pushing me, not the other way around, since I was behind her for quite a bit of the race.<br><br>

I thought of another one... at the Jay Mountain XC Challange (a 30+ mile race) at about mile 10 - one of the spectators said "Great Job you guys you're almost there!" - of course he was lying... 20 of the hardest miles were left <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif">

We (3-4 of my long run training partners) pass this group of 3-4 ladies walking when we do our long runs at this one place (5 mile loop)...we'd been hitting the same place for a few weekends and they always asked how many laps we were doing that day. They always had some kind of comment as we went by them, often to one another "Damn! those guys are flying! And they're out here for 20+ miles today!" A nice compliment even though they probably would be equally impressed had we been running half as many miles in the same amount of time, but nice to hear nonetheless.

I was running at nite with a headlamp on and a red blinker on my back. Some lady drove past me and pulled into her driveway about a block and 1/2 up. She got out and waited for me to come by and said "thanks for making yourself so easily seen!" I told her thanks for seeing me so easily and kept plugging along. It wasn't exactly nice, but certainly not mean, and definitely quirky. I enjoyed it.
