Maybe I already know everything? No, that can't be it.

Let's talk stretching. Who does it? Who used to do it but gave it up? Who does it after the fact to help heal injuries?

Me, I toss in a couple stretches at the end of runs. Normally just a few calf and hamstring ones. Maybe a couple arm stretches right after swimming. Otherwise, not so much.

What are the benefits of stretching? Maybe we should say proper stretching. Injury prevention for sure. Muscle development? Probably some argument and info here.

What are the benefits of increased flexibility? I make this distinction because I think there is a difference that needs to be realized.

One reason I don't do more is that I concluded my freshman year in college that it was hopeless for me to increase flexibility. I was on the track team, both indoor, then outdoor. We did some serious stretching. Quick easy series of stretches, warm up run, long series, workout, short series, cooldown. Everyday. After doing this for several months, I had no greater flexibility than when I started, or that I have now, many years later.

I see this as being a problem for me on then bike. I know I am fighting my tight hamstrings (and about 100 other muscles) when I am down in the aerobars.

In the water they say shoulder flexibility is pretty key. I am disaster in the water for a variety of reasons, and I am sure tight shoulders aren't helping.

I try to do some restorative yoga before bed every night, mostly I just love the way I feel afterwards, and I sleep like a baby I'm guessing it probably helps with injury prevention in some way....

I'm a complete mess if I don't stretch after running or any other high impact exercise (boot camp, step aerobics). I can get away with less stretching after cycling, though I still do it.

After running -- hamstrings, quads, gluts, hip flexors, calves
After cycling/Spinning -- hamstrings, quads, calves

I almost never stretch - except when I feel some strange pains or unusual soreness.
Mostly I just hate it - I believe it would benefit me to be more flexible, but I hate holding still - I guess I feel like the time could be better spent on the roads.
