I've run a qualifying time and would like to run NY, but am concerned about costs. Any tips on where to stay? The host hotels are about $300/night which seems high.

I just checked for flights. I can get a RT for $188. I'm also pricing hotels. I don't know you well, but if you want to share a room to cut down on cost I'd do it. It's ok if you don't want to though <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Smile"> Just tossing it out there.<br><br>
I'm still debating on flying out sunday evening or Monday morning.

Stay in Jersey near Meadowlands (Snooky might have room). Commute over for expo and stuff. Meadowlands is one of the marathon shuttle pick up points race day morning.

In 2008 I stayed in the Hampton Inn in Staten Island for $149 per night. They had a short shuttle ride to the start. And you can ride the Staten Island Ferry to the expo the day before and ride it back after the race.

I stayed I'm a little hostel on broadway around 101st street when I visited. Nothing too exciting but nice enough.<br><br>

Bill, I stayed <a href="http://www.broadwayhotelnyc.com" target="_blank">here</a> when I was in the states. It seems to be closed at the moment though. I was there the few days leading up to the race but they were more geared towards halloween than the marathon.<br><br>
It's not as nice as it looks in the photos but reasonable, basic sardine style bunkbed rooms full of 18-30 year olds but it's cheap and has security and is about 3 blocks from the subway.<br><br>

I'm staying in midtown Manhattan for about $100 a night right now. Not the plushest accomodations, but the crack dealers are really pretty polite, and the rats leave you alone if you whack 'em with a tennis racket every now and then.

we used a Vrbo.com place last spring to stay in NYC... cheap, and we got what we paid for, but it left more cash for other stuff, so I had no complaints, on the go so much, only slept there anyway.
