Happy New Year Kicksters.

I decided I am going to jump on board with those of you doing a mile a day challenge. So I started the new year off with a 1 mile run, which would normally be my rest day. I would like to be able to say I ran every day for a year. It is not a resolution, just a challenge.

Scheduled rest day, but I'll get a mile in sometime or other to keep my streak 'alive' (2 days) . This will be a challenge working 7 days a week especially when I throw some 12s in there.

HNY, everyone.

Nightmare for my family. Our 9-year-old niece had some sort of accident. She was flown to Boise, and is in a coma for now. Won't know anything about her condition until Monday afternoon. Just a terrible day. Life happens while you're making other plans.

Chances - Sorry to hear the news. I will put her in my prayers. Is it medically induced coma or is if from the accident?

Dave -- Thank you so much. From what I understand, she's never regained consciousness. She's heavily sedated, and been placed in a state of artificial hypothermia for 36 hours to preserve organ function and keep brain swelling to a minimum. We're just shocked.

Chances - Sorry to hear about your niece. Thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

Dave/BBS - streak on!

Hawk - great job on the race! I can't believe you ran in the Hattoris (spelling?)... they are like slippers. Now out for a 10 spot? You are on fire!

I was going to head out for a 5'er but decided my body needs some RnR. So, my streak started and ended today. Good job it was not a goal.

Chances - so sorry to hear the news. We are all pulling for her.

RA - Hattoris worked quite well. Right calf is a little tight today but that itself isn't particularly remarkable. I was actually thinking they would be good for indoor track races when I can't wear my spikes but then decided what the heck, let's do the road race in 'em. Packed another pair of flats just in case I chickened out before the start but the Hattoris felt so good there was no way I was doing that. For such a minimal shoes the ride was quite smooth...and fast. :)

Meanwhile today's 10 may have to wait until tomorrow as DW has offered that we take the in-laws out to the mountains for an afternoon "hike" -- on one of the easy trails (flat, no rocks/roots, and not very long). Guess I can claim a walk for the day.

Oy... what a sucky spin. Warm and no wind this morning which would have been the perfect time for a spin. But, plan was to go to church. Got ready and then hubby said he wasn't up for going. Sigh... went back upstairs to get ready for a ride. And it started pouring. Okay, God, I guess you want me to go to church. It was a good message. After church the temp had dropped about 20* and winds were gusting to 35mph. What better thing to do than head out for a ride! Ended up with an easy 23mi ride on the bike path. Pace sucked, but hey, this was just for "fun".
