Had a great run...didn't want to do it but once I was about 3 miles into it I was glad I did. 6.55 at 7:11 pace. Last mile in 6:30. Felt great and since I started my run at a lil' after midnight I had the roads to myself. Shut my headlamp off and with the very light flakes falling, I'd have to say it was one of my most peaceful runs I've had in a LONG time.

Sounds like a nice run, Alex

After a nine day non-running streak, I ran this morning to bring in the New Year. 4.4 miles in 50:15; slower than usual, but not unexpected after the layoff and recovering from driving 1000 miles over the weekend.

Alex - Sounds like that was fun but midnight? Hope you got some sleep after.

Outlaw - Way to start the year. The driving would kill me more than the layoff.

Going to try a couple of miles in a bit. Hoping it goes well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Outlaw, glad you got in some miles - my butt would be killing me after driving that much!

Dan, have a great run!

Just got back from doing 6 miles. Feeling sluggish, but not surprised since that's 5 days in a row of running (which I haven't done since marathon training this past summer). Tomorrow will be a cross-training day!

Happy New Year!

Later today I will get out for 5 miles. It is possibly 5 degrees depending on where you are at. Anyway, I am waiting for it to get a little warmer before I go out and run. Have a grea New Years day.

Alex - nice way to kick it in!
wanderingoutlaw - a 9-day break! I'm jealous
vashondan - have a nice run.
Jen - you are kicking ass right now
RichardC - some of my best runs are with hangovers
kfuller - that's cold, even for me!

My legs are pretty fried, but tonight is hockey night, so I can't pass it up. We'll likely be short a few guys too - lots of skating, it'll be good for me.

solid runs everyone. wish i could have done that too alex, thought about it, but it's a touch dangerous where I live. not as much activity as usual, must have been some late nights for people Put in an amazing 15 today. went out or an hr 45, wanted to keep it easy at 7:30 pace. started off at 7:45 after falling down a hill, saw black ice the whole way than randomly fell where it seemed like there was none. second time in a week i've slid down an asphalt hill on my stomach, should prob stop that. than clicked off 7:25,7:10,7:00 and pretty much 6:50's the rest of the way. hit 6.36 at 7:10 pace and the last 8.6 at 6:52 pace. last 1.5 at 6:40 pace. felt effortless today. did 5 strides after. i tried to hold back, but i figured as long as the pace feels easy mine as well roll it. Pretty pumped for the season if 7 min ends up being my easy pace. may have to adjust my goals a bit. 15 on the day in an hr 45 for 7 min pace. may run later another 3-4 if i don't run with my dad. should hit right around a 100 for the week. finally feeling great, where i was this summer before my foot got run over by a car. yea long story. everyone have a great year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! First race of the season went very well. It's cold and windy today, and I really didn't think I was going to do well today. But, I just added a layer and made the best of it. I started out about where I should have, and there wasn't much passing or being passed at the start. Its a loop that you do twice, with an extra out and back. I dropped my son early on, saw him on my inbound as he was outbound. He wasn't looking good... I continued running as fast as I could and picked off runners as I could. Towards the end, there was a woman just ahead of me. I knew I should pass her, but I was getting tired. A little umph, and I passed her. Which was a good thing...

23:27--finally beat 24:00
3rd AG

But, the victory is pretty hollow. My son had a terrible race and is really beating himself up about it...

Richard - Cocktails to running all in the same morning! Should be interesting.

kfuller - Good idea waiting for balmier temps

Richard - -8? Wow. That's 4 on the rocks right?

Arrojo - Enjoy the skating.

4boys - Great start to the year! Congrats. Sorry about your son though.

I ran 2.5 and then did 30 minute on the bike. Felt good to get out and run again. Took it really slow and easy. Back is a bit stiff but no pain. We'll see how it feels in the a.m.

Go USC!

Great New Year's running, all.

Nice sized group run this morning. We ran in the valley and out of the winds: 30F, feels like 12F, at 9am.

8 miles total. Inspired by yesterday's one mile challenge, I recruited a couple others to join me. Without stopping, we ran our 7th mile as a pickup: 5:56 (3:01/2:55). Total run 64 minutes.

Great way to start off 2008!

I finally got out for a run and now it is 21 degrees. Was going to the rec. center, but it was closed. So out the door I went. This was a great run. First mile I went slow in jsut under 9min pace. Then it got better from there. Towards the end I picked it up and ended up with 5.03 miles in 40:57(8:07). This was a very good way to start the New Year.

4boys-- Congratulations on the PR and the 3rd place. A good way to start off the New Year.

Richard-- -8!!!!!! You are crazy. I would have stayed inside. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Have a great day everyone and enjoy whatever it is you decide to do.

4boys-nice PR!
Kfuller-Way to get out there and run in the cold weather!
xcrunner-you are amazing.

I was going to do a little race this morning, but today is my birthday and my daughter and niece made breakfast in bed for me. Couldn't resist their smiling faces. I will go out for a run later today, however I am not going to run my age in miles (way to far to run!) and I don't think I will run a marathon forward and backward (and yes, I am younger than 52!). I think I am going to go out and buy some new running pants and then take them out for a test drive!

Happy New Year everyone!

Richard- Good point, I’ve run everyday this year! Way to get that run in with the cold weather
Arrojo- Have fun tonight
4BM- Nice race, sorry your son’s didn’t go so well
Rain- Happy Birthday!! Have a good run later

3.1 miles for me today on the accotink trail over in CMJ’s territory. My knee hurt me just at the end of the run when I picked it up the last .2 or so. Beautiful day for a run outside, 50* and sunny clear skies with some wind. The trail was wet and muddy and my legs got covered with mud, but my shoes that I got back in early December continue to stay bright white, haha. Go figure.

hey alex i go to westfield state college in westfield mass. where are you from? I see you have some pretty solid goals for outdoorm especially that sub 10. i've always dreamed of that, i sucked at the 2 in h.s. went 4:49, but never ran faster than 11:07. even in the 3k, I've only gone 9:45 which is lik a 10:25. i've gone through 2 in the 5k in 10:25 though and have gone through 2 in 10:50 in multiple 8 and 10k's, so i'm thinking it's just not my race. although i'd like to run under 9:30 in the 3k this indoor season, so pretty close to 10 flat, we shall see.
