Happy New Years everyone.

Spin bike this morning; 16 minute WU followed by 15 X 30/30 at 85% effort.

I have a much harder time riding on a spin bike than running on the TM. I am definately ready to get home to my own bike.

Happy training everyone.

Now its time to get serious :)

I have a 2 hour ride 6 x 6min at FTP every 12 minutes is the main set. That is going to suck. I plan to watch it during the Northwestern game, then watch my Badgers in the Rose Bowl.

yesterday, some cadence work/bike drills, easy run outside.

Good morning, everyone.

Given that my New Year's resolution is to complete a HIM in June, thought this might be a good time to introduce myself over here. Dave and 4boysmom know me from the daily Run and Race Report forum, but triathlon is something pretty new for me -- only one sprint under my belt, and found it pretty hard. I know the HIM is a big step from that.

Welcome Chances!!! We love new members so it's great to see you here.

Happy New Year everyone! My workout today consisted of taking down all the decorations and putting them away and walking the dog. I think I'm more worn out from that than I would be if I had done a 6 mile run........yikes! Lots of walking up and down the stairs :)

Welcome Chances!! This is a fantastic group...you'll love it!

Didn't post yesterday, but got in about 10K around the neighborhood. Today....well, had grand intentions of getting on the bike. However, let's just say I overdid it last night. oy.

Lots o' Chances... sounds like a race horse... Welcome!

The plans came together for me. Fewer numbers than originally thought but still, we had a good enough group for the New Year's Day run.

26.2 mile run of the Boston Marathon course, from official start to finish, with 4 others. Had as many as 9 earlier in the week, but last minute had people backing out. Still, a plan came together. Four all together. We ran start to finish, including some long breaks to refill water bottles and hit up bathrooms, in 4 hours total time. Time spent running had us at a leisurely 3:45 marathon. All good. Fun. And a great way to ring in the New Year... maybe even the start of a new tradition. This after a fun New Year's Eve party with my all-time favorite people -- my wife, my two brothers, and John (LRR and Shawn). It was tough getting up this morning but well worth it. 2011, bring it on!

Thor--leisurely 3:45 pace?! You know that's better than my PR from 5yrs ago, right?!

chances--yah, I knew I'd convert you!

I spent this past week in Asheville, NC. Ran a couple days, trashing my legs on the hills. Got home yesterday and son1 said he was getting ready to head out for a spin, and did I want to join him. Well, DUH! Nice little 21m spin with him. So, with trashed legs I headed out this morning for a "long" run. Numbers suck, but cranked out a nice little 8.6m.

Son1 has officially started training for Triple-T (Fri-super sprint, Sat-AM Oly, PM Oly, Sun-HIM). He knocked out a nice little B/R brick this afternoon. Why start today? He hasn't really run since his HM in October and he just realized our first race of the season is in two weeks...

Welcome, Chances! Thor is one of the craziest ones here, so no worries.

Happy New Year everyone! The day started very quietly, with 2mile walk with DH. Have been taking care of lots of small stuff around the house. And just swam 3000m, I don't recall the last time I swam this much by myself. Finally started feeling a bit better in the water after a consistent swimming for a few weeks. Still slow.

Beautiful sunny but cold day (in the 30s) here in the PNW and I opted to bundle up and ride instead of running three. Got 16 miles in. First time on my bike in three months.

11 mile run this morning. My running has been totally transformed over the past few weeks with the help of my coach. Obviously we're a long way from any sort of race, but my run's never been this strong before.

1.3mi on the treadmill...I've been a little quiet lately and there is no time like new year's to start pulling things together. There's a story there that I'll get around to telling eventually. Let's just say I'm looking forward to a fresh start.

Happy New Year, tri-peeps!

Ran a 10K today that was probably as long as 6.3 mi. Ran a 1.25mi warm up before the race. Pace was no where near Thor's leisurely marathon pace, BUT I did a great job with my pacing none-the-less...started slow and got faster for a wicked negative split. Just the way I like it! Wanted to post a photo of the super cool personalized bib, long-sleeved tech race shirt, and sparkly finishers' medal, BUT they ran out of medals and I'll have to wait for them to mail one to me. Lots of 10K finishers are in the same boat (there was a 5K, too). Was a great race with fantastic volunteers, but I heard they also ran short of post-race food & beer.

saturday: annihilated my 5K PR (went from a 33:48 to a 32:58), jumped in the ocean (all these people were wading to get up the courage to go in. I took a running start, ran until the water was thigh deep, dove, turned around and got out. net time: 10 seconds). oh, and I learned a few very useful lessons about running today.

30 min on a borrowed set of rollers. This was my 2nd time ever on rollers ... what a blast!! I feel like my core was worked much more and I was a bit mentally drained from focusing. Kind of like riding in a pace line inches behind another wheel. I only rode off twice this time :D. I may have to get myself a set.
