Good morning Peter, Ksrunr (great pics, nice family); Perch, nice run!

After reading all the great responses to my training question I decided to check out what Pfitz is all about. I went online a bit and ultimately ended up going to Borders and buying the book.

The "up to 55 mile" plan isn't too far off what I've done in the past so I'm going to do that one. I like the 18 week plan although as of today we are only 16 weeks away from Boston. Obviously I need to start 2 weeks in. I do have experience behind me, this being my 9th marathon, so I don't think that will be an issue.

I need to tweak things here and there to fit my lifestyle but I am excited to start!!

Thanks so much everyone for your input!

No run for me today. A nice and quiet night tonight with good friends. Can't wait!

Happy New Year's eve to all!

Geeez, I guess the hot avatar thing is good motivation to get in shape.
I can get a pic of my calves I guess, they are pretty good.

Got to take the day off from running today much as I don't want to, 4 days in a row after a 50% increase in mileage ain't gonna cut it. So it's Stairmill, weights and abs after work. And going for a brisk walk at lunch to nab one more Geocache to make the total 160 for my first year which started in May.

ETA PeterNC, was that "she's got legs" in honor of all the hot avatars or "Tush" in honor of Larry's avatar? ?

Good morning to everyone. I never ended up doing much of yoga stretches last night; instead we, ahem, went to bed really early. Today I'm at work till 1pm and then I'm heading to the gym for a recuperative workout and short run. Still coughing a lot but I'm feeling about 90% better than before, so it's time to resume my workouts, albeit in a modified format so I don't overdo it - at least not yet!

When I get to the gym, after I warm up I plan to do a 1 hour walk/run, easing back into it. My 2008 goals include getting to a regular 5 mile run at least 3 times a week but it's going to take me a while to get to that. My normal good runs are usually 3 miles and I'm not actually back up to that just yet. Today I'll probably do 1/2 mile increments for an hour with 5 min walks in between.

Good runs to everyone and safe festivities tonight! Good luck tomorrow, JJJ. I have a good friend who lives in Knoxville and I like that little city. I got one of my bulldogs from there about 15 years ago, crazy Muriel, now RIP.
No running for me. Running 20 miles on Saturday plus the 2 hours XC skiing made my legs feel like noodles. I will save my energy for some dancing tonight.

Good luck JJJ. Go get them buddie.

Best wishes for 2008

No run here either - good luck to those who are over New Years racing, celebrating b-days and doing 108 sun salutations.

ksrunr, congratulations to your son. They make a beautiful family! Speaking of family, what is the word on DW's injury? Is her marathon still on?

10 snowy, slushy miles. A fine way to end the year.

Edit: Last night DW and I watched Running Brave, the Billy Mills story. Recommended. I never tire of watching his amazing Olympic 10K win. What a kick.

Millionbot - thanks for askin. Her pain has subsided quite a bit but not to the point she can run on it. She is going to swim all this week to keep a fitness level. Her appointment is not till next Monday. That's good because I don't want her to try to run yet. The MRI tech unofficially thought that there was no stress fracture. Will wait for the official word next week. Her dr is a triathlete who sidelined me last year for 3 months and seems very knowledgeable. Hopefully can get her to the starting line in 2 weeks.

I forgot: Happy '08 and good healthy miles

No run for me today...I had actually hoped for some snow to try out my new YakTrax in, but it was just a millimeter of slush on the ground at 6 AM this morning. So, I bagged the whole idea and took a recovery day after my 15-miler yesterday.

Good news, tomwhite! Ksrunr, that was a sad story about the little girl's father. Can't imagine going through something like that. Mustang Sally, nice run in the wind yesterday. Feel free to stop sending that wind my way any time now.

This has been the year of remodeling for us. We did the entire upstairs (paint, flooring, furniture, appliances, etc) earlier in the year and are now in the midst of remodeling downstairs. Funny how redoing one area makes the other areas look shabby -- which is why I'd never dare do plastic surgery -- I'd never be able to stop!

Just remember to pick a skirt colour, Pro, that doesn't clash with that new hat.

Gotta work tonight. Bah! At least it'll be fun spying on millbot.

Erika, don't try this at home without Stoli and a sauna.
