My birthday is coming up (Valentines day), and I got to start celebrating a little early over the weekend. I got new (used) race wheels on Saturday and a custom-made IM bracelet today.

You can see both here: http://kcwoodhead.blogspot.com/2008/...-presents.html

I'd post pics here, but I never do a great job of it!

I also averaged 17.0 for the 64 mile portion of my ride that was outside today and that is big for me (rode ~36 on my trainer). So, it was a pretty darn good weekend!

My mom and I got the bracelet made by a local jeweler -it took a while, as he has no idea what Ironman is, but I'm happy with the end result. The idea was for it to be something I could wear all the time - during workouts and races too. I will probably get a nicer one down the road that wouldn't be in the pool and lakes. Apparently the price of gold is through the roof right now, so I may be waiting for a while.

And yes, the new TV will make for some great trainer sessions to come. I gave up and finally bought a pair of wireless headphones to connect to my TV because I just can't hear it over my trainer without getting kicked out of my apartment.

Happy Birthday! I LOVE the bracelet! What are the bands made of?

My birthday is next month and I don't think I'll be getting sweet race wheelz!

The race wheels were a purchase I made for myself and just happened to be at the right place at the right time. I picked up my bike from getting worked on the day after I got my annual bonus and the guy helping me out said he had wheels for sale and the price was pretty hard to beat. He got lucky - race wheels were certainly not on my plan!

As for the bracelet - the band I have on it right now is like the WWTD bracelet, just narrower. I think it is 6-8mm. The one I have it on now is pretty sturdy and I think will be the one I use most, for all my working out and everything. I have a very pretty light pink leather croc one as well, but it has a clasp on both ends that I haven't been able to take apart yet. Apparently these bands were in style a few years ago (I missed that whole boat), so there are still some around on the internet, but not as easy to find as they used to be.
