I got this from my Self Magazine. It's this month's weight workout, for the Self Fitness Challenge. I didn't have time to do all of them this morning (I was late to work anyway!) so I'll do the rest tonight.<br><br>
But you stand on one leg, with the other out in front of you, foot about 6" off the ground. Then you trace the alphabet with the foot in the air. Switch legs, repeat. That is one rep. You are supposed to do 5 reps. I did 3 (short on time). I was surprised at how this made my thigh muscles work!! I can feel them already today as I walk around.<br><br>
It also helps me work on balance, which I have zero of.

I saw a video ["Iconoclasts: Laird Hamilton + Eddie Vedder"] where Laird was doing dumbbell presses while <i>standing</i> on one of those big Swiss balls.

The personal trainer my friend and I worked with last year used to kneel on the ball and wiggle around, never falling. I wanted to push him SO BAD. <img alt="biggrin.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/biggrin.gif">

I can do that. it's not as hard as it looks.<br>
What I can't do (yet) is jump from ball to ball. Laird is my hero! If you ever see his 'Art of the Athlete' Episode, it's a must see. He weights his bike down with 80+ lbs. of weight before heading out for a 3 hr ride.

I occured to me that we did a very similiar "exercise" in hockey practice with our sticks; supposedly to strengthen the wrists
