There is a new Canadian running magazine with the very innovative title: "Canadian Running" (how many focus groups did they take to come up with that) Looks like it will come out 6 times a year. I bought it at Shoppers Drug Mart. It's actually quite good. It has (note to Runners World) stories about actual Canadian runners like Danny Kassap--a Canadian runner from the Congo, an interview with Ron Maclean (he says he is in 45 minute 10 k shape), the Running Maniacs and a runner on the cover (Canadian 1600 m runner) as well as the usual flogging of shoes etc... The editor is Mike Kapral--isn't he the joggler? For those of you looking to dump Ayran World--er.. I mean Runners World, for me, it looks like an upgrade.

I picked up an copy of it at the Outdoor Show in Toronto last weekend. I was very impressed. The quality of articles and layout design are on par with those two other 'merikun' running mags. I took out a subscription on the spot. Twenty buck for the year.

I saw an add for it in Triathlon Magazine Canada. It looks like it might be interesting. I'll probably buy a couple copies at the Newsstand before subscribing, just to see if it'll be something different from the magazines already out there.

It looked good and "felt" good, like a quality magazine. I hate the ones printed on really cheap paper with lousy murky photgraphy.

What were the articles like? I don't need another 101 Motivational Tips for your first 65 minute 5k on my shelf.

Ya really... I agree! But I heard (from TB?) it was stories about Canadian runners and their experience.<br><br>
Wonder how feasable it is these days to come out with new magazines with the WWW and all... Maybe I'm not your typical Canadian (I work in IT) since I read my monitor more than anything else but you have to wonder if the sales for printed literature/mags have gone down and by how much. And how long before their entire mag is available online... Either way, printed ads or online, same thing I guess.

I liked it. Think it is worth supporting. It is a bit like RW but with more of a focus on stories about runners. First issue had one on Danny Kassap, the Marathon Maniacs (started by a Canadian), the 1600M champion etc.. A description of a Canadian running route (Quebec city was the focus). An article by John Stanton. Plus the usual flog of new shoes etc.. Hard to judge by one issue. Don't think it is targeting the Running Times group.
