Son and I went to the lbs this afternoon and picked out his bike. Put it on layaway. This evening, we took hubby up with us. He wanted to take the car, since it was already warmed up, and we were still "just looking". Uh, I think we'll wanna take the van...

So here it is---

And all the details... http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=32192

Okay, so it's entry level. I think it will work very well for my son for right now.

We're looking forward to taking it out for a spin tomorrow afternoon!

Glad you were able to get him a new bike. What has DH said about it?

Yah, we went through the days of "hand-me-down" bikes. At one point, we had 15 bikes in our garage. Son's first 'good' bike was a hand-me-down from my mom--a Trek Elance. Kid started getting serious, so when he outgrew that, I got him a used Trek1000. He's taken care of those bikes, so I think he earned this new bike.

THis bike certainly is a huge step up from my first 'real' bike. When I was about his age, I bought (with babysitting $) a Univega VivaSport. Full Suntour... But, it was good enough to get me started.
