Any other ‘Kickers’ running the New Bedford (MA) Half-Marathon Sunday? I ran it last year for the first time. Chilly and windy. Looks like we’re going to have similar conditions this year (as if the hills aren’t bad enough).

Dan

I'm running this for the first time. The forecast I see now is 15 mph winds in the upper 30ºs. That's better than the 20 mph winds they forecasted yesterday, hoping it looks even better tomorrow. I'm excited to run a flatter half marathon, only run a couple other incredibly hilly ones

I'll be running it for the 3rd time. Notoriously windy. The forecast humors me:

Sunday: Snow likely before 3pm, then a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 38. North wind between 8 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Typical New Bedford ... it'll be fun those three miles along the water.

Yeah...fun! Like the quote in my signature says.....

But in a month and a half I'm be out in Indianapolis for the Indy Mini. That'll be my 6th consecutive. No matter what the weather is for that...it's ALWAYS better than at the NB Half.

Well, the weather wasn't all that bad. Rain/snow held off and we didn't hit much wind until around the 8th mile or so...when we got down by the water. It got a bit chilly then too. But any chance of a decent time were gone for me by then. I had to stop four (4) time before the 3 mile mark. First to pee, then my right shoe kept coming untied. Finally I tied it in a triple knot and it held. But it kept me from getting into any good pace. I don't know what the problem was. I've run several long training runs in those shoes and they've never come untied. Then suddenly...three times in three miles. WTF???
