Ameriwreck has an easement right next to our property. For whatever reason, this summer after every rain, their man hole fills with water which then drains onto our property. This is doing a number on our yard. Installing a french drain looked like it was going to be an easy fix. 20feet of French drain, tie it into the sump line, and we're done!

Son1 got it dug out this evening. And we've hit a snag. The plan was to add a "T" to the sump line. Except, not a clue how to do it. Any suggestions on how to add the "T" to a line that's already in the ground?

Sorta solved it. Plan is to add a sleeve. Push the sleeve up the sump line. Add T and a stump of the sump line. Line up, put sleeve over two ends. Hope it holds.

This was supposed to be a simple project. Son1 got it dug out yesterday. Bought PVC and drilled holes. Everything was good to go. And then it rained overnight. Three hours for manhole to drain/extract standing water. Discovered that sump line was a builders special and non-standard size. Also, because it was so cheap, it was no longer round. Another trip to the hardware store to buy stuff to sorta make it fit. Then, son1 discovered that the sump line doesn't actually line up. He'll have to work to get that to sorta line up. Good thing this is a passive flow and there won't be any pressure.

And we're not done there! After cutting the sump line, the sump pump ran. Somewhere between the sidewalk (where the drain connects in) and the house, there's a clog. It is flowing so we're just gonna leave it for now. Since the builder planted a tree right over it, I suspect tree roots.

All I have to say is it is very nice having a college student who is having to earn room and board!
