The other thread on pot lucks got me thinking of the workshop I ran a couple of weeks ago. We had a pot luck supper and one of the attendees told us that she had a great way to ensure that everyone got enough to eat and that everyone ate at the same time instead of lining up forever. Here's how it works:

Set up tables in a big square or rectangle with seats on the outside and inside. Have a bit of space to allow people to get into the middle

As the guests to place their dish in front of them and to take a seat. Ensure that everyone has a seat.

Ask guests to stand and move clockwise around the table with their plates until they return back to their place.

Everyone arrives "home" at the same time, everyone gets a chance to sample every dish.

It worked like a charm, and I HATE pot lucks because it usually happens that I am at the end of the line and get nothing.
