<p>I've been watching bits and pieces of the ACC and SEC basketball tournaments.  The ACC games have mostly bored me although UNC did have an exciting game today. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>The SEC games, on the other hand, have been much more competitive and fun to watch.  UGA lost a heartbreaker to Alabama this afternoon.  The UGA coach called a timeout as UGA through up a last ditch ball to win the game and MADE it.  Unfortunately because the coach had called timeout, the winning points came off the board, the game went into overtime and Alabama won.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Florida and Tennesee was pretty good for awhile tonight although the Gators appear to have the game in solid control up by more than 10 with less than three minutes to play.  I love hearing the UT band play "Rocky Top".</p>

<p>Hope everyone else's tournaments are going well.</p>

<p>Paul Hewitt has been fired as basketball coach at Georgia Tech.  On one hand he praises the AD and University for their past support.  On the other he complains that not having consistency in coaches at GT hurts the program.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Hmmm, he only had 11 seasons at GT.  I think his termination was at least a year or two overdue.  Further, we now have to pay him 7 plus million dollars as a buyout on his contract.  I hate these contracts written up just after one successful season - Hewitt's was written up in 2004 after he took GT to the national title game.  Unfortunately he hasn't done much since then.</p>

<p>I'm fairly certain that a team made up of short, fat, slow, arthritic, middle-aged soccermoms could have beaten my Badger men last night.</p>
