Intellectually, I know why. I'm not used to this amount of work. I took a month off after my half, and now I'm building up to a marathon.

My legs are tired. Every run is a slow run. Every run is difficult. Even the short ones.

I know and understand all of this. I also know that if I stick with it, and my aerobic capacity increases, they will start getting easier and I will be able to go faster.

But, man. This Sucks. SUCKS.

I hate starting a run, feeling my dead legs, and thinking, "I don't even look like I'm running".

Coach-E:

You gotta get through the rough section to get to the good runs. This way, you'll appreciate the good ones that much more.

Work through it. You'll do fine. Good luck with getting ready for Crazy Horse. Pretty up there.

Oh. and "walk it off". I always wanted to say that to a coach.

yes. A very slow one.

Oddly enough, I just saw dinosaur girl at the grocery store. (she's a checkout girl) She doesn't sing when she's working at the store.

FWIW I find it helps me to think of those runs as mental training. I really feel like this has worked out in the long run too. When it all goes in the crapper and every step sucks, and I still have 40 miles to go, I feel like I can just lean on the experience of all those runs that sucked and power through.

That doesn't make it suck any less for you, sorry. Hope it turns around soon.

I like Hippo's advice, too.

coachie, up until a week ago all of my runs were like that too. It's no fun, is it? They've started to get a bit better, although I struggle to stay in even easy pace range when it's hot and humid. It's the ramping up in mileage plus warm weather. Keep at it and know you will get up to speed! Be sure you're getting enough rest and fueling well, too.
