See, I subscribe to this new pain scale as being a far more accurate depiction of pain. I prefer 0.

Awesome!! I love it!!

Grizz--since you are in pain often, I wanted to mention something I have learned: people with pain often get so used to it that what is actually a 7-8 for anyone else, those with chronic pain label a "3". Their perspective of pain changes and alters over time.

This may be common sense to most peeps, but I didn't know this before. It was in an article about a little girl with cancer.

It's "funny" with pain.

I mean, not the pain that Grizz is going through, but, for example, when I started lifting again, a few months back, of course, I was in some real pain for a few days, could barely move my arms, but, it was a pain where I knew what the cause was, I knew it would go away, and I knew it was "good for me" because it was the result of something I did that was good for my body/health. So, it was a "good pain".

I have similar pain after I run. Left knee hurts (osteoarthritis). Calf and quad pain. Sometimes the ankle. Nothing horrible, but, it's there constantly, and I notice it. But, it's a "good pain".

Oh Physio is excruciating, but I can see it as "good" pain as well. I do think that there's a certain point where one does get used to pain as a background noise.

Not sure if I would call that a good pain or not. i think the difference is, if it's self inflicted, it's "good". Sure, you don't have to go to Physio, but it's not something you want to do. So, it's not a good pain.

Also, the pains I have are probably nowhere near as bad as yours.

What's amazing are those moments you wake up and realize you have a respite from pain. It's fub how being pain-free can actually wake you from a dead sleep.

Airehead, that's what has happened to me - waking up to realize that it isn't from pain... bizarre.

I went through a season when I was in constant pain. I had abdominal adhesions. It was tolerable as long as there was no movement. Except, there was that whole bladder filling up and the need to empty it. Walking sucked too, because that caused stuff to move around. One day someone asked how I was doing because I was limping. Actually, that was a good day. The pain was just background noise. But, the topper was when I woke up from my second surgery. They asked me to rate my pain. Pain? What pain?! Surgery had corrected the problem and I had no pain at all. Just a dull ache. My life no longer revolved around percocet.
