I'm not sure if this is because I'm not in peak-peak condition anymore or what, but I have many pains. What can you make of the following?

Heel pain, left foot: doesn't sound like pf; it's constant and not any worse in the morning than at any other time. I wear high heels a lot; could be related.

Shin pain, right leg: I think this is a garden variety shin splint. It hasn't gotten any better in months, but it hasn't gotten any worse either.

Arthritis, both hips: Meh. I know what this is. All I can do is lift heavy weights that press through the spine.

Strawberry chafe mark, upper left arm: I get this stupid thing every time I switch to spring/summer running gear. Body Glide helps, but not much.

Butt pain: Probably related to doing 12 miles yesterday when I'm not in the kind of shape I should be. Had minor shooting pains down the back of both legs during today's run.

Suggestions or comments?

I'm not a "hardcore" runner with tons of advice, but I can say:

Get out of those high heels! ACK!

Some of this stuff looks like it's from not being in "peak-peak condition." I say this because I'm going through some similar stuff after a winter hibernation.

It's frustrating!

Thanks to both of you. It's mostly griping, but yup, the pains are also good motivation to whip my butt back into shape. Some of it, I'm afraid, is just 25 years of running catching up with me.

heel pain: definitely could be PF, people typically complain of arch pain...but definitely can be in the heel...mine is. When I saw the podiatrist, he definitely showed me that it was PF when he pressed on the arch area where everything meets and laughed because I said my arch didn't hurt and he pressed and I yelled. Possibly you did have some PF that wasn't really painful and now you have heel spurs as a result. I've had the typical PF where it hurts in the morning and gets better. My current case is all day, I can sit for 2 minutes and then get up and "holy mother...."

butt pain: this one scares me a little. It could be piriformis, but with the shooting pains, sounds like you may definitely have some nerves involved (sciatica). Get cracking on "core strength". do kegels with you abdominal workouts. If you have pain while doing ab workout, get thee to a doctor.... If you a woman that's given birth, I'd highly suspect piriformis. I had a bad bout and went through PT. It's core, core, core.

Shins: ehh. I wouldn't worry

http://www.spine-health.com/topics/c.../sciaex06.html

Thanks, much appreciated. The friggin' heel is still hurting a LOT. Hadn't considered heel spurs; I'll check it out on webMD and se what I find. Thanks for that. Will see my orthopedic guy if it's not better by the time I get back from vacation towards the end of the month. Butt pain went away.

Given birth? My internal organs just shriveled up at the very thought. I'm not meant to breed.
