<p>my dog ran out of the yard. i saw him jump at the neighbor, she showed be her hand, it looked like a scratch, she said "no, he nipped me".  She asked his age and if he had shots, I said "yes".   8 hours later, the sheriff came and I had to show him paperwork on shots.  He said the neighbor went to the emergency room.   Now I'm required to bring my dog in 3 times in the next 10 days to the vet, where the 1st has to be tomorrow morning and the 3rd has to be in 10 days.  In the complaint my dog cannot be by any other dogs and people for 10 days.   I'm suppose to leave this week for Hawaii.   I take responsibility for what happened....I'm just upset with it all.    Well, I'm a little ticked that she didn't say "I think I need to see a doctor" or "I need to report this".   </p>

<p>I'm sorry.  If I lived close to you I'd take care of the dog including taking him to his vet trips.  Had the dog bitten me I would have simply wanted to know if he was current on shots and that would have been the end of it.  I've been bitten by dogs more times than I can count as I've been around them all my life.</p>

<p>The only thing I can advise is take steps to make sure your dog doesn't get out of his yard since now you know he can create some mischief ever now and then.</p>

<p>Check with your health department.  If the dog is vaccinated and the bite was minor, there shouldn't be an issue.</p>

<p>I used to work for a vet.  The ONLY time there was an issue was then a dog attacked a child.  We had to hold the dog for 10 days before we could euth.</p>

she went to the ER because she was afraid of getting an infection.  I've gotten an infection from a hangnail, so although the bite didn't draw blood and she didn't appear in any distress, I can't blame her at all in making sure that things are all right....I mean she was minding her own business and my dog approached her.   The sheriff wouldn't give me her name, but dh called another neighbor that knows everyone, called her and told her to send us any medical bills.    </p>

<p>That stinks.  We had a dog issue.  She was the sweetest thing in the world...unless you pet her over the fence.  And, even that was OK...until...you pulled your hand away.  Then she would bite.  It was really weird.</p>

<p>It happened several times, but, when we had new neighbors move in, and it happened...we decided to put her down.  I mean...the next time it could have been a kid.</p>

<p>Anyway, the woman, our new neighbor, a nurse, didn't get it tended to, (she knew better, but didn't) and it ended up getting infected.  They did not, nor did they have any intention to sue...bless them.  We decided, like I said, to put her down.  It was rough.</p>
