I'm an idiot

I went to work yesterday but I left early. It took me 2 hours to go 30 miles. The drive wasn't to bad just slow and there were plenty of other cars on the road so it was just a very long drive. FINALLY I get to my road and I'm thinking that maybe I should just park at the implement dealer and walk the 2 miles to my house. Do I do that??? UH NO!!! so I keep driving and end up stuck in the middle of the road in a snow drift.

So I jump out of my car, strap on the snowshoes and head off down the road.

I was stuck exactly 1 mile from my driveway. After a nice long walk I'm about 3/4 of the way there when a county snow plow driver comes driving up the road. He stops and I ask him if he could please not scoop up my car which is still sitting in the middle of the road. The driver tells me to get in and he takes me back to my car where he plows me a path and tells me to get in my car and wait for him. So I'm sitting and waiting and sitting and waiting and then all of a sudden there is these lights and this huge pile of snow coming up behind me. Well the driver pushed me out of the drift with a pile of snow coushining the back of my car.

I managed to not get stuck over the next mile only to turn into my driveway... which goes up a hill... and get stuck there. So my car was off the road and safe in my driveway and I got another chance to strap on the snow shoes and hoof it up the hill to my nice warm home.

Yesterdays snow was insane! I got my car stuck 3 times. I'd have to get out dig my car out and then try and deal with the underlying Ice. I would of killed for snow shoes or CC skis yesterday. good luck digging it out, thats what I'm about to do

At least they salt in Wisconsin. I got stuck at the bottom of my cul de sac last year during an ice storm and had to chain up to get to my house.

I'm very lucky in the fact that I have a neighbor that has a bobcat and welcome's being paid in cases of beer.

I live in Evansville so needless to say the trip home was a nail biter but getting stuck in a drift in the middle of the road was something that hasn't happened since I was 16! so uh... many years ago.

Aw, c'mon the snow isn't so bad is it?! We've had 3 snow days in the last week and a half here in Mid-Michigan. It makes me REALLY appreciate summer.

We don't get much snow in Columbus, but when we do, we ain't goin' nowhere. We love our dead-end street. Except the city seems to have forgotten that it's here so we never get plowed. If we want any chance of getting out, we have to hire a private snow plow. Neighbors chip in because everyone is losing money by not going into work anyway!

Well, they don't always salt in Wisconsin. In downtown Madison, they don't salt because it can further damage the ecosystems of the lakes. If you've done IM WI (which I hope to do in a few years) you probably know they're not in the best shape already.

My drive home was interesting as well. Slow snow driving - but my wipers gummed up and I couldn't see. If I was able to, I pulled over and brushed it off. Sometimes I had to open the window, reach with my hand and wipe off as much as I could reach.

When I reached my apartment, cars were already stuck in the driveway. I drove around, tried to park at a bagel place, got stuck, got pushed out, drove around some more, and then beached my car in a spot along the street.

Safe to say, I haven't gone running bc of the snow for a few days. I also haven't biked bc I'm in the process of getting new rollers because my old ones are basically shot and noisy as all heck. I feel so lazy.

I feel so freaking lazy too.... But I'm sick and I can't breath. I coughed for 9 hours last night even on drugs I couldn't stop. And it wasn't pansey coughing either it was all out gut busting I just can't stop coughing coughing. I seriously wanted to die right there.

My road is down to 1 lane and I had to look both was at the top of the drive way then gun it down the hill and pray that there was no one behind the snow banks that I missed.

I love my house, I love the property and the fact that it is so quiet but really this winter stuff is wearing me thin.

At least when it's snowing there's no deer flies, horse flies, black flies or mosquitos. Right? You have to look at the positive side. If it's below freezing all the bugs are dead and can't bite you. No EEE or West Nile Virus that way. Nothing trying to fly into your eyes or up your nose. It's perfect!
