1. Why do you run?
So I can eat. At the time of my 39-year-old checkup, my doc presented me with two choices: Continue as-is, and weigh 220 and be insulin-dependent at 50. OR, lose 40 pounds and get active. I had access to a rewind switch that was quickly disappearing. I had great success with the WeightWatchers online approach and quickly learned the power of activity points. Running was a great fit. I could run at lunch, during kids' lessons, before dawn, whenever. So I ran. And ran. And ran some more. I'm the teensiest bit competitive, and have been told I have some perhaps compulsive tendencies... so I started running to get faster. And saner. And I'm still running and running.

2. Bitch and complain a little, and then file them in the "Well, that was good training" bin. A bad run usually precedes a big breakthrough for me.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?
Dump the numbers to SportTracks, and spin and twirl them to my geekly heart's content.

6. Who do you admire most?
Brash, pushy American broad. (Some, but not all, of the edges have been worn off by 18 years out of the country.) A bit intense at times, and very funny.

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit?
My winter gear is anchored by a great black/reflective wind vest. We're inseparable. My favourite outfit is a white tech tee and my little black Nike skirt.

12. What has been your favorite race?
The Ragnar Del Sol relay last month was a life-long highlight.

13. Do you have a goal race right now?
Sailing. Put me at the tiller of a sweet little boat in a fresh breeze, and all the world is golden and fine. And Bach. I love Bach. Listening, performing, doesn't matter.

15. In direct contrast to my love of Bach, I am an accomplished bagpipe-player.

16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted
CassadAAmius isn't actually all bad, for a guy from the University of Michigan.
