What horrible news. Sounds like your friend has quite a bit of resilience & drive. I admire people with that ability when faced with such a crummy lot. "How can I keep from singing" is such a great song. I like the second verse ...

Ironically, as I'm finishing up this post, a friend came into my office. He's probably 16 or 18 years my senior. We don't socialize outside of work but are fairly close here in the office. I've met his wife & kids on a handful of ocassions but feel like I know then very well because of akk our conversations here at work. He stopped by to tell me that his sister-in-law was feeling sick a couple of weeks ago. After some tests they were concerned about something on a scan & scheduled some exploratory surgery for today. He just got word that they ended removing an entire lobe of her lung because they discovered cancer in the lung and in some lymph nodes near by. She's 50 years old & no history of any of the typical lung cancer risks.

♫ ... it finds an echo in my soul ... ♫ "An echo in my soul" - for some reason, that's a very powerful image for me. Imagine if we all had something positive "echoing in our souls."
