Many of you have heard of Thor and my friend, the Muffin Queen a.k.a. Terry. well, Terry raced the Timberman sprint along with her too young nieces. She was yards from the bike finish when she came upon a coned-off no-passing lane. Things got bunched up entering the lane and she ended up crashing her bike. Despite her protests, she was taken by police cruiser to the med tent and then to the hospital. Despite her additional protests, XRays and such followed and eventually... they determined her shoulder AND her pelvis were broken!! So, she's walking with a cane and hurting. Let's send her some happy thoughts here!

Bad, bad decisions on my part for sure. Should have gone to the left of the no pass zone and risked time penalty. I wanted to try to get up to finish the race too. Funny thing is that I went to the hospital after I saw the bone in my left elbow from a deep cut and figured I needed a few stitches. I never broke anything before and there wasn't that much or any pain so I didn't think I was worse than road rash and cuts. As I have been told in the past, "nice girl but a little slow."

Seeing the bone is what decided it?

Well, at least you're not totally hard-headed. lol

Glad you're not in too much pain, too. Although I suspect that the pain level will shift for a day or two before it becomes steady and predictable.

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear about the crash. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I've seen lots of people do stupid things right at the entrance to that no passing zone to get ahead. They used to have volunteers there watching.

Muffin Queen, I hope you heal fast. It's not fun to have broken bones and neither is it fun not to be able to train either. Sending positive healing vibes, and I'm glad you got quick medical attention.
